A sideways pull strapped to the roll bar isn't going to have a happy ending.

If the roll bar is tied into the frame, it would not have ripped the body off like that. I think they were just trying to break the suction to the mud. Then try another straight pull.

No. Would just have pulled the whole Jeep over sideways.
So now you have it on its side in the mud.
