I'm getting ready to replace my clutch on a 2003 wrangler. Any issues I should be aware of before I attempt this?

I've heard the napa flywheel sucks but I have an auto so don't trust anything I say

Unless your flywheel is cracked or damaged I've always just scuffed them up with a pad on my 90 degree die grinder and wiped them down with brake clean. Don't have it resurfaced by a machine shop. They actually have a crown to them and most shops will just make them flat.

I'm getting ready to do mine in my 2004 as well, so subscribing. Have you bought parts yet? Rock Auto has the Luk kit (which I've heard is OEM parts) for $80...

I wouldnt touch the flywheel other then a little schotch brite pad unless u really fried it. The pilot bearing can be difficult but harbor frieght acually has a nice blind hole puller that is worth buying. You can also dremmel it out but that takes a decent amount of time. Make sure u get a set up tool in the kit and follow the directions and torque specs in a chilton or haynes manual. Not a hard job just takes patients, muscle and a few special tools.

I have used the grease method a couple times now with good luck. Fill the hole with grease and use a 3/4" bolt to press it in. Fill and repeat. Pops right out! -

How many miles? I didn't replace my flywheel when I replaced the engine at 215k, I fought with a shutter on takeoff for a few years. I just recently replaced everything including the flywheel due to the TO bearing blowing apart, it's been smooth since. Just something to think about while it's apart and accessible. Also make sure the TO bearing is metal and not the plastic one.
I did mine in my garage with a harbor freight trans jack and basic hand tools, it went very smoothly...
