Agreed on the limit, I don't think they are going to start selling out on January 1st each year or anything like that but it's still unprecedented to put a cap on it and that doesn't really fix the problem of overcrowding on peak days. Also agreed on the beach coalition. What annoys me is that the cost was increased by $10 for instate and $20 by out of state...at roughly 13K and 3K respective tags issued that's $190K per year more revenue. Over 1,000 free tags are given away each year which is about $95K in lost revenue. By eliminating the free tag program they roughly could have cut the increase in half to $5 and $10. Or, to put it another way, every time you buy a surf tag $5 of it is going to subsidize someone else's tag. It's like welfare but for surf tags.

Who gets free tags?

Volunteer firefighters. The ladies auxillery tried to get free tags too a few years back but that was shot down. I would support a discount but just giving them away for free means anyone eligible can sign up, never go to the park, and take one of finite # of paid tags reducing DNREC revenue.

The overcrowding is because some people drive out there and party with no real intention to fish. It is just a convenient way to get all of their crap onto the sand.
The parks just made $400,000 off of the numbered surf fishing permits also. Instead of reinventing the money to make the beaches better they just stuck it into the general fund.

I got mine at eastern marine yesterday. they only had the white plate with blue outline. I really liked the blue plate with the yellow outline. anyone know what happened to those?

Funny because WCCSP stressed that I had to have the blue tag this year, that's what they want everyone running. I'm still running the white tag on both Jeeps. If you take your receipt to the one on Thompson Station rd and explain the situation they'll probably give you the blue tag.

Same thing happened to me at Killens Pond, I told them I needed the tag as well as the sticker and they gave me a white tag. I asked about the blue one and they said they were only giving out the white ones until they were gone.

Big weekend at the beach with St. Pats and various bar/ restaurant openings. Im gonna do a solo trip down and maybe drown some bait. Anyone else going 'fishing?'

I'm debating going to OC for the parade, if I do that I'll probably ride out to Assateague, don't know if I'll buy an over sand permit, though, haven't gotten one for a couple of years. I have to look and see what kind of fish are around down there vs Cape Henlopen
