Driving off-highway I mean. Do you remember that first time you took your Jeep off-road somewhere? I'd like to hear people's experiences. I got my TJ in November of 99. None of my friends had Jeeps, and I didn't know of anyplace to go off-road. I kept it clean and shiny (and stock) for over a year. I was posting pretty regularly on Q'tecs message board, and through that ending up getting in touch with the Smith brothers, Steve and Rob. The 3 of us, along with Jon (skimmer as he used to be on here) decided to meet at the canal one cold day in February. This was before I knew you couldn't wheel there, and also before I knew even how to get on the access roads. I remember my non-Jeep friends thinking it was crazy to meet people I didn't know and go to the canal with them. I guess they thought I'd be left for dead. That's why they're not Jeepers I think... Anyway, we spent a few hours driving around, going through big chunks of ice frozen over the puddles. One of the Smith brothers pulled an Explorer I think. It was muddy and fun, and I was amazed at what the Jeep could go through. I even had my first rescue that day, pulling out Steve, who's Jeep was much smaller then: I remember thinking how cool it was that I was the only one not to get stuck that day (and the only TJ....coicidence? :suspicious: ). Although I did have to have Steve and Rob help me reconnect afterwards, something that went on for quite awhile until I got new disconnects (Andrew can attest to that). Here's my Jeep afterwards: Not nearly as muddy as it has been since then, especially the inside, but back then, it was great to see even that much dirt on it!
