the pad may have had some moisture in it, then wile parked it froze to the drum... then when you took off in the AM it just ripped the pad apart...

    maybe

anyhow, take care, scramblers are getting rare, we wouldn't want you tearing it up... or your self ;D

They come stock on Euro and Japanese Jeeps stock, but I can't find anywhere in the US that has them...
I am trying to prep my Jeep for export... eventually (I just want to be ready, when the time comes)
I can do like some of my friends overseas did, and swap the reverse lights for yellow turn lights (some wiring involved) and do external reverse lights in the bumper.

"The 2008-09 HUMMER H4 or HX as some people refer to it will put Hummer into competition with the Jeep Wrangler. It will be based on the Theta platform and will have a removable top and doors. The Hummer H4/HX will be the cheapest vehicle in HUMMER's lineup around the mid $20K's. When it will come to market is anybody's guess but we could see it as early as 2007."

Not my words... but it is very true.

in the US the only real 4wd convertable is a Jeep.

FJ cruisers, and Hummers would be much more interesting if they were topless
Hell, everything is more interesting topless ;D

well i was on my way to look at a new car when my jeep decided to show me its wrath and have the front internals get go on 13 at 50 mph. Boy was that fun. so i just got home from limping the jeep home at 10 mph for an hour. guess i will def be getting a new car in the next three days

That is part of the joy in owning a Jeep... I can't count how many times I have been stranded, broken, back-firing, and limping down the street :innocent:
When going to work is an adventure, you know that you are in a Jeep.

You are probably gonna need more than just spider gears, cause, if they let go then they probably ate up your ring and pinion, when mine went it cracked my housing into three pieces

If you plan on selling it, you'd best patch it up first...

My neighbor is selling a toyota corolla, pretty cheap, if you decide to keep the Jeep, but still want to save on gas...

I have had several tire types... just like everyone else on here I have an opinion also...

the Mickey Thompson MTZ's I put on my rubi have done very well on the trail and on the street.
I have herd that they wear fast, but that is what happens when you want a softer tire to offroad with, they wear faster. It gives me a chance to upgrade faster ;D

BFG MT's can be scary in the rain and snow (on road) but they are harder so under a lighter Jeep they should last a long time,

I have used Kumho MT's and for the price they were great, but same as BFG in the rain

My wife has Bridgestone Duellers on her SUV and they are great onroad in snow and ice.

As far as getting a good deal, Qtech and 4wd are overpriced, even with the discount...
tirerack is good but they have limited selection.

the best deals I've found were at Summit Racing and Jegs, best prices and shipping is cheaper also
    http://www.summitracing.com/
    http://www.jegs.com/

Depending on work, I may be up for the 29th, I'm good with blues/blacks... or atleast I was last time when it was dry and warm, snow, ice and mud always make things a little more interesting, plus I hate wheeling with a hard top on... but I guess I will get over it.

Hopefully I'll see you all on the trail

oh and anyone going from Dover (John) we can roll together

And if things change, I'll be off for the 22nd... so anyway, I should be able to make one of those dates

the rules changed in Oct 07... my wife's 2004 Mazda Tribute had to go thru a full insp. OBII check and all, lights, horn, brakes... just like my older vehicles.
When I took the 04 Rubi in Sept they just checked the VIN and waved me through. But now they are checking newer vehicles. Not sure if there is a cut-off.

    Welcome Back Steve

When I finally put a cat on the CJ it toned it way down... people don't pull up at a light and ask if I have a V-8 in my Jeep any more... but I had to get it thru DE inspection.

Well I cleaned and re lubed the CV portion of the front DS... I actually found a pinhole in the center of the centering ball piece and it can be used to fill the cavity with grease. For now the angry sparrows are gone, but in a month or so I plan to replace all the u-joints in the DS (ft and rear) I'll keep the old ones for trail spares. And I'll double check the CV joint to make sure everything is still good.

So the front DS has been out for a few days now... and no more squeals...

I tore it apart and cleaned every up... it looks fine, but it did look a bit contaminated.

I'm gonna try to repack everything, pop it back in and see how it goes.

I plan to do an overhaul down the road, :bang: why wouldn't Jeep put in greasable joints!!!
