Hey, I'd really like to try and make this one. I won't be able to camp and wheel the entire weekend, but if I can come up for one day, or come up one night and wheel the next day, I'd like to do at least that. Still working out my schedule to see what day, if I can, that I can make. I'll update.

That's exactly how I've felt (hence why I havn't done anything yet, even something simple), don't really need anymore power for the trail, which is what matters. Don't really care if my Jeep is fast on the highway (would be nicer though). Only thing is, later on, i can't say that it won't be cooler to have a lot more power.

    Hey,

I was thinking about upgrading a little bit ago, more power would be nicer. I was thinking along the lines of chip, intake, throttle body, thermostat, exhaust. I have the 4.0, so are you saying it probably won't make much of a difference or is that just for the 2.5? The upgrades I was thinking of are a little more than what was previously mentioned, but I'm just wondering.

The only thing that's prevented me from doing this is money. It's a bit of change to do all of it, (and if I wanted to go further could always go with a better cam and even compression) but in the end I still have a I-6. Not bashing the motor, from the factory I think it's great and plenty for a Jeep. But for more power, I just think it'd be better to be working on a better platform, like a V-8. Small Block Chevy would suit me fine. Not only that but I'm not ready to completely re-vamp my Jeep.

I'm a rookie when it comes to this, havn't done much work around the block before, but I've done a little research. Putting in a sbc would probably require rebuilding or replacing the rest of the drivetrain components, so you don't have to reply and tell me it won't bolt up. But, if I'm gonna spend $1,000 - $2,000 on the straight 6, I could spend just as much on a sbc (mind you I'm counting on pulling something from a junkyard and building it myself at my friend's shop, save myself the cost of labor), be making more power, and still have some potential left in it.

    Any thoughts?

I'm planning on showing up. Gonna be hitting junkyards tomorrow for my friend's 57 Ford (w/ a chrysler big block) and Olds (and possibly searching for some Jeep goodies), and I have some other things to attend to, but I'm hoping to hit hooters for dinner.

Heh, asked my friend and he replied with "uh, big?".

It's almost as tall as I am (I'm 6'2") and I wouldn't be able to wrap my arms around it. I know when we installed it it was really heavy. I remember looking at a label on it and I think it said that the peak output was something like 24.9 hp. I dont' know how they're rated or if that helps.

Hey thanks. I bought a gallon of Herculiner. 1st coat used almost 1/4 of the gallon. after the 2nd coat I had probably a little more than a gallon. and then since I wanted to use as much as i could of that gallon for the 3rd coat i used as much as i could and almost used it all. then used the rest to roll on (underneath the pedals where i couldn't spray) and for a little touch up. I figure when I take the tape off I might use some black spray paint, but I'm not sure yet.

With my luck i couldn't find a cup for the spray gun, so i bought some fuel injection hose and attached that to the dipstick ... which broke off, so i used some epoxy but it broke off too. sanded it down and used super glue and that worked just fine. so i had this 12 inch hose that i had dipped in the gallon of herculiner which i moved with me while i sprayed.

Also not only were the pictures taken at night but the third coat was still drying. When I looked at it after the first coat had dried my jaw almost dropped. Red seems to take the corners out of the car, and now that it's black I think you can see the angles much better.

Hey guys, thought I'd show you my progress on putting the bedliner in my Jeep.

Started with power washing the inside, then scrubbed it down, taped it off, and sprayed it. Put 3 coats on now (tried to use as much of the gallon that I could). Clendaniel gave me an undercoating gun which worked real well and my friend Joey let me use his shop.

Probably went a little overboard with the tape, but nothing a little touch up can't cover up. Now all I have to do is that and throw the seats back in.

Personally, I think it looks better in person, but .... meh
