just wondering if anyone has used herculiner on the window frame? If so, was the windshield installed or removed. right now, I have a used window frame with no windshield. just wondering if I should herculine it and if so, should I have the windshield installed first or before?

I wouldn't herculine it. I'm not sure what that would do as far as protecting the frame. If you scrape your windsheild frame against a tree it will just bend or dent before scratching. If you want rust proof it pour something inside to etch the metal (swirling it around to get the liquid throughout the frame), rinse well, and then dump rustoleum or POR15 in side (again, swirling it around).
Or, the outside is painted, have a windsheild installed and then seal the rubber seal to the frame with black RTV.

I would def not. I used herc on my bumpers and they faded to a dark grey in under a month. It looked like s@#t on a bumper and it would only look worse on a windshield.

my friend covered some of the rust spots on his yj's windshield with hurculiner but scraped it off a couple days later. it doesnt look too good and it fades pretty quickly..but just like deadfeat said...make sure you keep it off your "hootus"

Any black Herculiner needs to have a UV protect added afterwards. Herculiner states this. Some or all the various colors do not need the UV protectant. Do as Slimer said.

i added the required UV inhibitor in the form of a top coat on my tub's herculiner just as herculiner specified. 3 years later the edges that are regularly exposed to the sun are a nice solid gray compared to the areas still covered by the carpet. the coating is still in great shape and holding up well to what i throw at it, but the fading still will occur.
** for the record, this "graying" of the exposed edges had occurred by around a year and a half after application...

I used this in my whole tub. Took everything out. Seats, console, brackets, etc. I then did 2 different ways. Some spots I put the bolts back in and screwed them down, then put tape over them. Or I put painters tape down over the whole, then used a knife and cut the access off. Spend the time in prep. The more you prep and clean, the better it will come out. I used brushes on my application. I didn't like how the rollers were comming out. Here are my pics that I took.

NP. Glad I could help. If you have any other Q's PM me. I also used Acetone to wipe everything down. Very smelly, but works great. Make sure you are WELL ventilated. I did mine in a small garage, and it was coming into the house. Oh, and wear cloths you don't want anymore. It don't come of cloths, and takes forever to get off skin. OPPS works good for skin. i sprayed instead of brushing or rolling, it still will fade even with the UV inhibitor, and prep really is key.
