My slow xj build

Well i just got outta boot camp beg of aug. So i went and picked up this xj i saw outside of dover for 800 bucks. 93 two door with 157000. Valve covr leak had been just fixed and the only other leak was from the oil filter adapter. Kinda rusty underneath but not to bad. Test drove her and was great and strong. Ive recently bought the Rustys perform kit. Includes intake and exhaust. I dont have the exhaust on yet. Then i found rust in the trunk. These picture are from when i ws in the process on getting all the rust cut out. i cut what i could tne hit it all with a needle gun then primed it all. then i got a big piece of cardboard and made a tempplate of my trunk and took it to boyds welding where they used this machine that would plasma cut 16 guage steel around the template. came out really good but i colda dont a better job on the template. this is the steel in and the next pic is it all sealed up.I was gonna weld but didnt have time so it got riveted in. Thats all for now.

looking good, how long did it take to get the old metal out.

not long but i wasnt in a rush i kinda just fooled around with it when i was bored so what coulda been done in a day took alittle longer

well i got the exhaust on and it sounds bad ass. its got a nice low throaty tone with a slight crackle when you let off. i love it. plus at high rpms added with the sound of the intake its a beast. ima try to get a video of it soon. the worst part about puttin a new exhaust on is taking the old one off.

so i got a tranny leak and a oil leak. the oil leak im pretty sure is comin from the filter adapter nd the tranny leak is comin from the cooler lines i think. also a alot of water comes out my exhaust not a drip either is that bad.

Hard to say with the pic you posted but it doesn't look too bad .
How long did it sit before you got it ? Might just be condensation .

ive put about 900 miles on it and didnt really notice it till i put the cat back on

TBH . I really wouldnt worry about it unless it started pouring out .
Can you see any color in the water ?

the water seems clear and dosnt really smell but i had all kinds of stuff on my hands when i checked it just seems like an unusual amount

Hooked up a valve for flushing the coolant.

hooked up a temp gauge. came out pretty nice and the gauge matches the interior except for the needle is red

oh and who an tell me what wrong with these pictures.


this is on a 93 cherokee

idk about anti skid axles but its the axle shafts. they are cv axles on a cherokee with abs rings on em. i dont have abs. im guessing mabey grand cherokees have d30 fronts so thats why it worked

I'd recommend that you take the adapter out and install a brass barb .
I left my flush adapter in and it broke and leaked antifreeze .
Just toss it in a drawer until you need it again .

Are you sure it doesn't have front ABS ? Look under the master cylinder and you should see the ABS module .
If the axles bother you they can be swapped with regular ones . Just keep those as spares .

thet dont rally bug me and i know i dont have abs. but the boot on one is busted so im waiting for clicking sounds to start. and as flo the flush kit. my buddy has had one on his 98 xj forever and nvr had probs.

Mine only lasted a year before it broke .

idk ill see what happens right now im in the middle of fixing more of the floor(under rear seat) and making a rack for the back like the olympic

well all done the rack here is how it turned out im pretty pleased. will be more pleased onced i get my amped sub to mount underneath.
