dns clearing on a tablet

  • i have the gallaxy 10.1 with android 3.2

pirate4x4 switched some things around and i can not get on with tablet. it looks like if i can clear tne dns i can reconnect, but i am not versed on this kind of stuff. i serched google but cant find anything or just dont know what i am looking for. my cel phole logs on fine

    aaron

  • cleared cach, cookies and everything else i could find, tried a reboot, tried links from google, just cant see it from the tablet. its wifi, think the verzon roughter needs to be reset???

  • I don't know if their site is running or not, I can't get on it. I think most Android devices only cache DNS records for 10 minutes, less for error lookups, so caching shouldn't be an issue. If you can do a hard reset (power off, remove battery for 10+ seconds, battery in, power up), then that should clear the cache.

    edit: beat me.

  • FWIW they moved to enom.com as a registrar and should be good to go now. I was on there from work earlier and just checked from my comcrap connection here at home and it's resolving fine. Unfortunately for those that can't get on there it is likely not an issue on your local machine....nmore than likely your provider has cached it and may or may not respect the TTL

  • yea whatever he said. it appears to be a problem with my verizon router or verizon itself going to try and clear the dns on the router

  • was able to reset the dns on the tablet and home pc to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and it works. apperently the verizon router i have has not cleared its cache and i cant force it

As Spedly said they just moved -to- godaddy which is a slap in the face of all of those who oppose SOPA and value freedom on the internet. Pirate4x4 can kiss my posterior.

Sure about that? Might wanna check a whois...it pretty clearly lists the last change as 1/2/12 and the registrar as enom.

It pains me that more "normal" people don't know about this as it is being debated in Washington after already being rushed through and then delayed a few weeks ago. SOPA basically undermines everything the internet is founded upon and gives the US government unprecedented control to seize domain names. No one country or person owns the internet...it's regulated through ICANN. We have no right to do this and the reasons by which a site can be seized are vague and broad.

    First I heard of it.

    Thanks for the link Geoff.

    Most important question...

Will this affect me downloading porn for free?

From everything I've read recently, it does seem like it over reaches and they could technically go after DEJA if we post links to copyrighted material. It's not likely but there was nothing in the act that would bar them from that as far as I can see.

that's the problem with our country, DC is so disconnected from the people that the politicians and lobbyists do their thing and the people have to live with it.

but yeah, SOPA is evil... gives way too much power to the government and a huge headache for internet hosts that would have to enforce whatever the government says.

The intention of the bill is to shut down sites that host pirated content... mainly music and movies since the MPAA and RIAA have a ton of power, but technically anything violating copyrights, which I'm guessing most of the free pr0n sites are doing. No idea, just guessing... lol don't use them. If somebody uploaded FSM info to their photo gallery or something, that could get us shut down. I think an innocent link in a post would be ok, but if there was a thread dedicated to links to "free" FSMs and such, that could be a problem.
