spring + Spacer lift

    What are the general thoughts regarding adding a spacer lift to a small spring lift?


    Currently i have +1.5in springs and would like to add 2in spacer to the mix..ive hear a mix of both good and bad things about it.

    I used to have a 2" coil with a 1 3/4" spacer...It worked fine for the fronts but I suffered alot of spring sag and eventual failure in the rear from the spring over compressing past the spacer during flex. With proper bumpstops, I dont see why it shouldnt be ok. Over compression of the spring would be my only concern.

    a few concerns - you reduce the down travel of your shock, limiting your spring stretch since your shock will reach max extension quicker. up travel will cause your spring to compress completely or past recommended factory design. if you put a puck in I would recommend extending your bump stops to about 50% of what your puck is, hence reducing overall articulation up and down. Compressing your spring that much without bump stops could cause premature failure in the spring.



    I run 3/4 puck on 2.5 coil. minimal but little impact. I think 2 inches is too much without changing shocks, shock extenders,bump stops.

    I have some isolators in the rear and a small strut mount plate in the front for now..kinda kicked the can down the road for a bit.


    I know I need new UCAs if I go any higher so I'm likely to get new front UCAs and then add the 2in spacer lift. I have a larger bump stop in now so I'm set in that area.


    If any one with technical expertise is bored around Smyrna I'm not apposed to a beer summit on liberty kk. I'd love for some one to take a look and make sure I'm not setting myself up for failure!
