Lift Spring and Shock Install around Dover

Back in the day we used to have "Wrenchfests".

The host would supply food and drinks and other Members would help with the install.

Do you have a garage to do it in.

Always helps if the Host is a DEJA Member also. Just sayin'.

I miss that era... Haven't had a good wrenchfest since gas prices went through the roof.

cubalz, if you're just doing springs and shocks, it's a very simple job. Should be done in two hours assuming no bolts break. It'll help A LOT if you spray down the shock bolts and swaybar bolts with PB Blaster. It'll soak in and help break down the rust to make remove the bolts easier and greatly reduced the chance of snapping one of the tiny shock bolts (front lower, rear upper are most important).

Or if your missing a bolt and have to drive all over Newark to find the right size to finish the install..

You and I are in the same boat cubalz. I too am in the Dover area and plan to order my lift kit within the next month or so. Like you, my Jeep is my daily driver and I don't want anything going wrong. (I have the mechanical knowledge of a brick with duct tape on it.)

Since I don't trust myself to do the wrenching, I'll be posting a similar request to see if the more experienced folks here can lend a hand. As mentioned, I'll be willing to provide garage/food/beer/soda/goat piss. Sorry to dirty up your thread, but I figured we may end up ordering our parts at around the same time and could kill two birds with one oddly shaped stone.

Wouldn't hurt to become members (I mean if you were planning on giving money why not to the club?)...just sayin... I think this is a really good idea for a wrenchfest. I'd love to help as I know nothing right now and would love to see how it is all done.

I will certainly become a member! I read the FAQ for it now I'm just waiting for next payday when I'm not budgeted to the hilt already!

I'm a noob and my knowledge is limited. I know that I don't want/need anything over 4 or 4.5", and I'm looking for affordablity without sacrificing too much on quality. I've been looking at the Skyjacker standard lift kit and the Teraflex standard kit. Both offer between 3.5 - 5" of lift, and both are within my price range. Any wisdom on this topic is welcome because I'm new to all this. Thanks!

Ahh yes. Sorry I meant to include that in my original post. My Jeep is my daily driver, but I also plan to do some trail rides, beach trips, and some light mudding. (No deep water areas) I doubt I'll get into the climbing thing as my Jeep is an automatic and the cost of steering/suspension components probably increases dramatically for the needs of rock crawling.

I live in Dover too, if you need any help just PM me and depending when your able to do it, I may have garage space availible. I have all the tools needed or close by as well.

Honestly, I wish I had an auto for some of the trail riding/crawling I have done. But you are certainly correct on the steering "issue". Lol

Very true, Im from the TJ/YJ crowd. Ill wrench on whatever as long as someones around has a clue.
