So I am getting ready to install front lower control arms.
They have a curve to them.
I am guessing the short side is frame side and the long side is axle side. With the curve towards the frame.

My guess is shorter length at axle mount for better ground clearance. When you say curve towards the frame you mean \/ and not /\ right?
Curve towards the ground. Short end toward the axle.
Curve towards the ground. Short end toward the axle.

The drawing kind of looks upside down. Not sure though. LOL.
Here is what I meant.

All the pictures of the rusty's arms on google have them installed like billy's picture.

Yes, mine is upside down. It has been a long day already... Lol
Yeah... should be like the photo. The bend before the short length gives better clearance for the axle control arm bracket. Some long arm kits are set up with a different bend to help with ground clearance though. I think that's where Brian was thinking ![]()

Rockcrawler and Nth/AEV run high clearance. Spedly has them too. I've always liked high clearance control arms.
Thanks Billy that is exactly what I needed to know.
Kinda off your question Bob, but what's the advantage to those arms?
You will probably wear out those rubber bushing quicker than the stock arms since there is no provision for flex.
That's why the stock ones are "flimsy" by design.
I bent a control arm last time out.
I got these for $40.00 couldn't pass it up.
They won't break in half if you drag them across a rock.

Did you hit something or twist it?
That's how the brackets get bent and broken.
Wow, that bracket's takin' a beating too.

It was all the same trip.

The mini skids for the brackets really help to beef them up.
And me pulling you off the see-saw you were on.
Pretty sure that won't happen again. ![]()
