P0139 code for 02 sensor but is unclear which one.
Looks like most common is 1/2 but still unclear where this is located?
Any one with a little knowledge on this?

Down stream of the front pre-cat.
Where did you find this information at?
Where did you find this information at?
I can't remember.
Cyl. 1-3 are bank 1, 4-6 are bank 2.
Upstream is 1, downstream is 2.
So there is 1/1, 1/2, 2/1, and 2/2.
That was kind of my question how do you know the difference between 1/2 and 2/2?
Both are down stream from bank 1 and 2.
I get the front bank (1) being 1/1 but there are two down stream from it, Same with the rear bank (2) 2/1.
Checked the FSM and was surprised how little information there was in it for this.
It didn't even say there were four 02 sensors.
I guess the question is where did you find that 1/2 was before the cat?
Unless the first bank gets the first downstream sensor.
Even so they should make that more clear.
Your giving me a headache Bob.
1/1 front upstream.
1/2 front downstream.
2/1 rear upstream.
2/2 rear downstream.
The up and downstream apply to the small precats. The main cat is not monitored.
Here's a little more from JF:
Bank #1 is always the group of cylinders on the side of the engine where the manufacturer designates where cylinder #1 is located. Some manufactures of inline engines may designate multiple banks. In the case of late model inline-6 Jeep engines, bank #1 contains cylinders 1-2-3, and bank #2 is 4-5-6. Cylinder #1 is located at the front or accessory/pully side of the engine for a Jeep.
In this context, "Sensor 1" is located upstream or before of the catalytic converter. "Sensor 2" is located downstream or after the catalytic converter. The PCM will compare the reading of O2 Sensor 2 to the reading of O2 Sensor 1 of the same bank to determine if the catalytic converter is working properly.
Got it figured out I think. Thanks for all the help.
Aspirin is on me at the next GWNF Keith.
Replaced bank 1 02 sensor 2 (downstream) and all is good.
Thanks Keith.
