What: We'll be picking up trash on the beach and leaving it in bags to be picked up.
Who: We need as many people as possible! No experience necessary! All are welcome...put your kids to use!
Why: This area of the beach is sponsored by DEJA and we have a sign up by the dunes. Let's make it look good! Save the whales, <obligatory pictures of fish caught is 6 pack holders>, good stewards of the Earth, yada yada yada.
When: 5/18 starting around 10AM to around noon. After that we will be having our Spring Fling picnic at Casa De KnoxRents in Lewes. All members are welcome!
Where: It's just north of the Indian River Inlet, head north just a bit when you get on the beach. Someone correct my map if it's wrong: http://goo.gl/maps/OOApG
Post up if you have any questions, pm if you want me cell phone number to meet up in the morning.

Id like to come help. Do you drive out on the beach? If so Do I need one of the beach passes. I think it would be cool for my kids to help out.
It'll be tight, but I should be back off a trip just in time to participate in the beach cleanup. Maybe +1.

You will need to have a beach pass to drive on but I'm sure we'll have a few Jeeps to shuttle people out. I'm going to give Stafford my JKU so there should be some room in there as well.

This sounds like a horrible idea. Sweet.

I bet we could drive into the surf up to the hood and make it back out.

I can guarantee half of that.

At least get video. THIS is what I'm picturing you and Matt doing on the way to the clean up. ![]()
That looks like a defensive driving video compared to what I'm planning.
I may have the mothers JKU as well, so there will be extra seats with me as well.
Was wondering if we were all gonna meet at a place before we head out there... I've been having some crap luck with my posi lock.... Hoping I don't get stuck. FS is a little squishy.... Was checking it out earlier today on my way back from work.
Don't think there is really a convenient place? If anyone needs a pickup pm me
Usually everyone groups at the parking lot on the west (south bound) side of RT1 known as Savages Ditch Road. It's marked.
There are portable toilets there.
Then everyone can drive over.
If you cross the bridge, you missed it.
Portable toilets who needs those?
I'll be there for the clean-up and fling
Where is everybody at I am at savage is dit
ch road
Sorry for the delayed update, went right from the beach on Sunday to a work trip out of town.
We had 7 of us out there and spent about 2 hours cleaning up from the entrance to Faithful Steward to south of the lifesaving station. All the random oddities and trash you would expect, lots of driftwood and signposts that had probably been ripped down in the storm. I don't know how this compares to how much trash was picked up at other events but I can safely say we got everything we saw. For future reference, even though we are doing a cleanup they still don't want you on the dunes.
Oh and then there was a 15'x2' culvert that weighed probably 500lbs. That was fun to drag across the sand.
