My new '96 XJ has this annoying little light. I don't know what it's trying to tell me, or how to turn it off. It's a little red light, located at the base of the tachometer, that flashes in series of two. It never stops. It's getting annoying. It looks built-in, not like an aftermarket alarm or something. I didn't get an owner's manual with the jeep, so no help there. Anyone?
Question for XJ folks...

That's the Take me off road indicator light.
It will not go out until you take it on a trail ride

I just checked the 96 Cherokee owners manual and this light is not shown as part of the instrumemt panel. There are no lights on the tachometer according to the manual.

that is a alarm led. if it is not a jeep alarm, than it is an aftermarket one. someone just took the time to make it look right. trust me. it is not a standard light.
