Can't help ya any with this problem. It's one of the very few things I haven't had to fix/replace yet (knock on wood). What are the stats of your Jeep? Year, engine, trans, etc.? Not sure if this is needed for others to help you out or not but it's always good info to supply. If it's a YJ, I can try and look it up in my Haynes manual when I get home in about an hour.

its a 1987 4 cyl.

Well I looked through my Haynes manual and there's nothing in depth on the steering box. Hopefully someone knowledgable will chime in.

That's a Saginaw box. There is tons of info online about rebuilding them. Google Saginaw steering box rebuild or I'll post some links when I get to a computer.
That's the input shaft BTW.

Just replace the entire thing.
I dont know what Jeep you have, but if its a CJ or YJ a re manufactured can be bought for around $100 (Rock Auto) Make sure you get a 4 bolt mount. Consider a new High and low side hose at the same time.
These are not typically home rebuild-able.
For a 93 YJ (Just Guessing)

It's an 87 yj.
Thanks for all the help. I guess I'll have to replace it since there's no other way right? That really sucks. I'll check on all the links .Thanks for all the help. If u guys find any other info please let me know
Thanks
