I'm looking to buy a 1997 tj. 4 cyl. Is there anything I should pay close attention to before I close the deal? Besides the usual frame and floor board rust issues

Frame, Frame, Frame! Where the train skid mounts, and where the rear control arms mount mostly.

Is your YJ a 4cyl ?
If you plan any highway driving you will wish you had the 6.

being a 97 (same as mine) the springs may sag a bit. I do not know of any electrical but maybe another member can help with that. All I do is put gas in and go.
Check frame and also control arm mounts as well as control arms. My frame needed a section fixed and now all good but still need to fix trani section rail on driver side someday. Really easy fix. either a section from another frame or repair kit welded in. -
