I'm ordering a new JK, is it worth the $500 to get the 3.73 compared to the 3.21 gear ratio

Yes if you are going to go to 33" or 35" tires.
That seems really expensive. It was like $75 when I got my jk.

I guess they made it more .... online says 495. I have to talk to them and see what it actually will be

I wonder why a different ratio would cost any more money. It's not like it costs any more on the assembly line.

He's right and its bull. I had the same thought but chrysler is just trying to charge more for what most people dont realize doesent cost them more. I just went through that and was very agrivated. And online does say its cheaper than what they say at the dealer. I stuck with the 3.21's and Im glad I did. Its got plenty of power, even when we went to vermont on the mountain roads I had no issues. I figured even if we went to 33's it wouldent be much of a change over the stock 32's. My jk isnt going to be a crawler though so Im only looking at on road performance. If your going to wheel it and go 35" or upwards you'll need to gear it but Im not sure that the 3:73's would be big enough at that point. Personally, Id save the $500 to put towards a proper gear install if and when you go up in tire size.

I'd say if you wanted the gearing you might as well get the tow package, but I'm not sure about that Class II 4-Inch receiver hitch :o

If you plan on going bigger with tires save the $500 and put it towards a regear. I ran 33s and 3.73s and regeared to 4.88s with 35s. What a difference. Worth every penny.

Wouldn't the re-gear void the factory warranty?

I'd agree if he was getting a 3.8, but the 3.6 and new trans make a big difference. -
Yep, good point. I keep forgetting my 2010 is no longer new.

Well since I was away from the computer all day I didn't get to see any of your responses. So I guess i spent a lil too much but i plan on putting 33's on within the next year or two. How much will the 3.7's help when i get 33's
