I just picked up my 14' jk last week. I was wondering if anyone has modded the stock fenders to make them flat, replacing the fenders is a little to much money
JK fenders

I grabbed a jigsaw and went to town on mine.

Not a great picture of them, but they weren't on long before they got ripped off.

On some of the national forums like JKOwners, there are threads about this. The best method I've seen is to cut 1/2" below the bend on the side/front of the flares that leaves you with the mostly flat top and retains the curved edge to leave a little rigidity. The main problem is figuring out to keep the inner fender liner as you just cut off most of the mounting points.

I've really been kicking around the idea of doing this.

I would think trimming them like that would make them too flimsy and the wind from driving them would flex them a bit.

Everything I'm reading is saying not too flexible and no flapping from the wind.

spedly sent me a link to one of the jk forums and the guy has pictures and explains everything very clear. ill probable use that post when i do it.http://www.jk-forum.com/forums…ailed-pics-video-80145/#b

Nice write up. I don't really like the line he took on the front of the fenders how it swoops back down towards the grill and front bumper. I think I'd rather take it straight across the front for a more flat look.
My plan is to do fenders and front bumper all in one sitting. Then thinking about what to do with the rear bumper.
