  • I'm in, green/blue/black. That primitive camping area, Earthday, sounds good to me. The place we camped last time was ok, but a little far from the AOAA entrance.

  • Not sure what all you have run but here is our report from this past weekend. We were there for Saturday only. Parking lot is very nice although the ATV/UTV guys need to figure out how to leave a little more room for fullsize guys to load up.

We took the pipeline trail (517 marker on the map) out to (736) and ran Barney Rubble, Bam Bam, Thunder Alley and S.O.B., in that order. The trails got progressively harder, starting at low black working up to red.
Barney, Bam Bam and Thunder Alley were a rock flow that we ran from bottom to top.

SOB is an uphill trail with a really difficult obstacle rocky (big rocks) right at the entrance. The higher up the trail we got, the less it looked like others had run it. We couldn't actually find the trail exit and had to blaze a trail to an access road. It wasn't long, but killed a lot of time.
On the way out we ran a wicked little rocky loop just off (341). That was pretty much our day.

Only two out of our group made it up SOB. It wasnt for lack of trying though.

A buddy and I both ran motionx-gps and below is his track. He didnt record SOB or our trip out by the batcave. I added a few of my way points to his track also which is why a couple might be off track a bit. I'll work on getting both our .gpx files uploaded if anyone is interested.

Both should get you to the above trails. You can get there faster if you take the main road out instead of the pipeline.

My track compared to Jack's above.

Group was 3 TJs on 37" stickies, 1 TJ on 36s (I think) and 2 buggies on 39/40s. We also had another buggy on 39s that tagged along with us for some of the trip. None of us stayed at the campground close by, we hauled back to Pine Grove and hoteled it hitting up RC on Sunday.

I saw some videos of you guys on Mike Haran's Facebook page. Looked like a great time! I'm looking forward to getting up there to check it out. :driving:

Yeah we had a good time and plan to go back. We went with the idea of trying to hit up the trails on this map. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/26608194-post78.html I dont think we did all the stuff on there. It'll get better as they cut more trails and get stuff marked better.

My track compared to the one I posted earlier. First time using the software so there was a learning curve and I should do better marking waypoints next time.

  • If Randy can't make it, I'll play trail boss for the day... I'm sure I'll be guiding the easy-er group anyhow. I'll shoot to get there around 8:30 and wait for the gate to open.
