TJ Parking Brake Set-Up with YJ Cables

  • I need to install a parking brake on my TJ. Because of the lift, I will need to run two passenger side cables from a YJ to the drums such as this application: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum…brake-cable-lifts-345675/

I am trying to find the setup for the brake cable from a TJ'er. I have the lever and center cable. Is the setup: center cable, cable adjuster (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-W…06-YJ-92-95-/321027964198) with equalizer and then the two cables to the rear brake drums?

  • The center cable should attach to the right side of the adjuster in the picture below and then your rear cables will attach at the right side of the adjuster. I haven't been able to find anything else included in the linkage other than some way to hold them up against the bottom of the tub. The write up on JF seems pretty spot on although the pics aren't the best visual aides.

  • There is a bracket the cables clip into. But its like the pic below (assuming it works) front cable to the equalizer setup then the left/right cables out.

Thanks. You know where I can buy the tensioner rod? I am having a hard time finding it online.

  • The eBay link you posted has the rod and equalizer. I've probably got mine sitting around here some where gathering dust. I'll look tomorrow.

How much lift are you talking about? I thought I ran mine with 4" of lift and short arms without any problems. Although I probably disconnected them from the upper CAs. Probably have the whole setup from handle to the left/right cables.

It has 6" of lift and I need cables longer than the stock TJs so I need two YJs which are about 70" in length. If you can come across the rod and equalizer, I would be more than happy to buy it from you asap.

  • I know its been said but just buy the cables from quadratec. U r not gonna find decent used yj cables.

  • I checked the shed but didn't see it. Pretty sure I still have it, just need to find the safe spot I put it so I wouldn't lose it.

If I do find it you can have it for the price of shipping. I'll dig around the garage after I get off work.
