Does insurance cover off road accidents like busting an axle or rolling the Jeep? When you add upgraded parts like a new suspension is that automatically covered or does that have to be added to the policy?

Nothing you willingly do to damage your car
is covered by insurance UNLESS you have an
agent willing to fudge some details for you.On most policies, things like suspension mods
are not only NOT covered, but can automatically
cancel your coverage if the company feels you
have compromised safety. In some (few) cases
upgrades can be covered in an accident or theft
but make sure BEFORE you find out the hard way... -

It will if you have USAA and full coverage. They replaced a hood and front fender for me - hood for when a branch fell and creased it and the fender when I had a slight "proximity" problem with a tree when sliding off a rock at Rausch Creek. They were fully aware that neither damage occurred while driving on a road. Even after giving a very detailed description of Rausch Creek and the circumstances surrounding the damage they still had no problem replacing the parts under comprehensive.

My insurance agent told me that mine was covered offroad also. As long as it was not in a competition or race (Lol).

When I was with State Farm :upset: my agent told me that damages were covered on/off road (full coverage policy). She even told me that there was a certain allotment in the policy to cover aftermarket upgrades ($3k-$4k?) but that couldn't exceed the value of the vehicle. That's how I got the new front bumper and Xenon flares after the accident... no additional cost to me.
