Members: tips for uploading to the new gallery

  • The gallery is fairly straight-forward, but if you upload a group of photos at once, it might get annoying if you don't know the tricks.

From the upload menu, you'll be able to upload either one or a batch of photos at once. Either drag and drop them from a folder onto the icon or click on the upload button to open the menu. That's easy, but after that... you'll get into the photo settings. Every photo must be assigned at least one category for general display and a title. I've found that the easiest way is to pick a category, then click on "use filename as title" then hit the "Apply to all other images" button, then scroll down further to finish the upload. If you want to get into more detail for a smaller batch, you can pick a category and click on the circle icon next to "Categories" to assign that to the rest of photos, then edit the others individually to assign detailed titles, descriptions, map locations, etc.

It's optional, but highly recommended that you use the album option for uploading batch of photos like from trail rides or modifications so you can find them or share them easier in the future.

After you've uploaded them to the gallery, you can post them rather easily into the forum. You'll only see this option if you have photos in the gallery. If you click on it, you can either post a whole album in a side-scrolling format (demo below) or individual photos. The side-scrolling album will only be possible if you used the album function when uploading, so another reason to use it.

This album demo is from a January 2006 trip to Rausch Creek.

  • Well, I spent some considerable time saving all of my pics I wanted to keep out of the old DEJA Gallery. Thanks for adding the Old Gallery tab on the page, Jerry.

Your life is made up of 2 dates and a dash... make the most of the dash!

  • so i figured out uploading to the new gallery but what link do i copy/paste to post a pic into another forum? I used to just copy/paste the bbc code, r2f link. I tried all the links in the "share" botton window but none generated a pic even when i put them between img tags.

  • the BB code from the share button is for posting here. The HTML will likely not work, since most forums have that disabled for security. I'll see if I can add another option, but in the mean time... just right-click on the image and copy the address. If you're on a phone, that's a little more annoying, you'd have to long-press on the photo, open in a new window and then copy the address shown.

  • Not sure what you mean about resize. The share links provide two options, either a small phone-sized image, or a larger computer screen sized image.

I did some manual editing to the coding, there is now BB code in place of the HTML code. I tested it, and that coding will work on Pirate.

    Html code (small version)

This is what is in the box when i hit the share button. That coding will not post a pic. Maybe i still dont understand?

  • No, try the one labeled "HTML (Small Version)". It's actually BB Code, but I didn't change the title yet.

    should look like this...

    Code
    [url=https://www.delawareja.com/forum/gallery/index.php?image/79-super10/][img]https://www.delawareja.com/forum/gallery/userImages/ca/79-ca2c56ee-small.jpg[/img][/url]

Edit: actually, that appears to only work on the computer view. On a phone, it's still showing the old html stuff... give me some time if you're using your phone on mobile view.

Edit again: actually, looks fine now on both of my phones.

Edited once, last by whatevah ().

  • maybe the old stuff is stuck in your browser cache. if you're on a computer, hit Control + F5 to force a refresh of that page in your cache. Not sure how to do that easily on a phone.
