**DEJA Poker Run/Early Summer Bash @ Schaefer's Canal House June 10 '17**

  • My nephew's bday party is Saturday but it's early enough that we'll still be doing the poker run. Plus he's only 1.. the party is more for adults than anyone! Lol!

Your life is made up of 2 dates and a dash... make the most of the dash!

    POKER RUN RULES:

    • Do not open the envelopes, look for Jerry "Whatevah" at the restaurant to check in.
    • Each club member in the vehicle can get their own envelopes (this is so family members can ride together... applies only to the members, other passengers may not get an envelope).
    • One envelope per person per site - each site is numbered. You can do all southern route sites, all northern sites or a mix of both... but only 5 envelopes will be opened. A bonus 6th site will be located near Schaefers.
    • Best 5-card hand wins.
    • You may begin at any time Saturday morning, but must check in with Jerry before 3:30pm. Winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

Gone- 2012 JK Rubicon with stuff. Long gone- Long-arm 2001 Cherokee with stuff.

  • Will the envelopes be identified in some way to differ from other pickup points? ...like a distinguishing mark on the envelope like S1, S2, etc. for the southern route and N1, N2, etc. for the northern run. Just figuring that someone could go to one pickup point, grab 5 cards and then head to Schaeffers which would leave the box possibly empty for any following people who stop to pick up an envelope. Just a thought that y'all possibly already considered.

Yup. Numbered envelopes and the north/south cards are different colors.

Geocache tips: bring a pen, and put on a healthy coat of bug spray, a couple of the suggested sites are likely to have ticks (North 4, South 4). Call me if you're hunting for one and need a clue. Most of the suggested geocaches can be found within a minute or two, and likely without even needing a real GPS, the satelite map and clues are likely enough.

North sites -look for a dark green ammo can!

    1- 39.653482,-75.582674 https://goo.gl/maps/QTgEQuiVdv82https://binged.it/2sZxGRo located behind a jersey barrier. Suggested Geocache: https://www.geocaching.com/geo…iew-of-the-delaware-river

the map below is my suggested route, although the 3rd site is a bit east of the "Polktown Place" point at the star, as the map is a little funky there. Should be around an hour. If you like, you can take the canal roads from Rt 71 just past the marina to get to the 4th site, but the trees are grown up, so there isn't really a view. If you do this, stay to the smooth road, no off-shoots and add 10 minutes for travel time. If you try for all of the geocaches, add an hour (the "Cache Emplacement" has a longer walk)

South sites - look for a dark green ammo can!

Below is my suggested route, should take around 90 minutes without geocaches. You can shorten the time a bit if you're in a hurry by switching to your car/phone GPS after the 4th site and returning to Rt 1, over the bridge to Rt 72/71. My route will take you along the lower canal road for a few miles with a nice view of the water, returning to pavement via Bethel Church Rd (the gate is usually closed in Chesapeake City!) Add 30-45 minutes to do the geocaches.

BONUS SITE----- located somewhere outside Schaefers. It'll be obvious when you see it... if you can't find it, ask me the hint.

  • I am in for poker run . Most likely south but it depends on what "south" means. Will have a solid confirmation when the locations are published.

You can mix and match north/south if you want to.

  • I'm not sure the location links came up on my phone correctly anyone else have this issue.

Just tried with my phone and it loads them correctly (you should see a satellite image with a star marking the spot), however the link below the image for directions is screwy. Tap on the star and it will give you a direction link to that.

Ehh, just tried it on the crappy work iphone, it doesn't show the star with the stock browser. I'll see what I can do about that... it's a google map vs apple thing.

yeah, tap on the star and it should reset. I'm assuming you'll be fine since you're on an android.

  • Maybe just give out the coordinates.

that's what the link is for, it shows the coordinates. Just not for iPhones, I guess. I'll post them separately later.
