Hello & help

  • Hi all - first post here! Sometime this winter, someone or something hit & dented the front bumper of my 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport and then took off without leaving a note. :cursing: I looked at DIY repair videos and I don't feel comfortable fixing it. I'm in Bethany Beach, DE. The estimate I got to replace it seems high - $565 - when a new bumper cover only costs a little over $100. I've also read that I might be able to get a used bumper cover for next to nothing and pay to have it installed. Does this price seem reasonable or high? Advice? Thanks in advance. Sandi

  • Unfortunately, that quote does sound right for a shop to replace the cover. Retail pricing is around $250-430 depending on the brand from the sources most shops use, plus labor. I'd suggest to watch Facebook Marketplace for one to pop up (or buy one from Amazon for $125ish) and then find a local mechanic to install it, should be about an hour of labor time unless your bolts are seized.

  • Welcome. I agree with Jerry. Shops have overhead. Even if it takes an hour, 500 bucks is about right. If you are into the stubby look, and have some basic skills/hand tools you could do these much cheaper. https://a.co/d/gp7BKOa

  • Hello and welcome!! I changed out my front bumper it was not to bad and mine is a 2012. They are not the hard to change out. Like mentioned above you can find them on FB market place pretty cheap. Its the labor to change it out at a shop unless you can do it yourself or find some friends that have the know how to do it.
