Members Appreciation Dinner, Saturday January 31st, 2026 , Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company

This is our yearly big event and membership drive. There will be door prizes, and a lot of great raffle giveaways.

*Very important*: marking yourself as "Going" in the FB event is great but registration MUST be done via Eventbrite. Tickets go on sale December 1st with the sale of 2025 memberships. Ticket Link will be provided below. Deadline date for tickets will be updated as it gets closer.

Where: Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company, 371 Main St, Cheswold, DE 19936 (pay close attention to the speed limit on Main St!)

When: Saturday January 31st, 2026. The room and bar will open at 6pm and food service will start at 7:00.

How much: Will be announced prior to ticket sales

The good stuff:

Door prizes and Goodie Bags for members.

Raffles

General Raffle: Each member will receive free 1 ticket. When called out, you get pick of the table. We ask that you choose something for you to use and not to resell after.

Pay to Play Raffle: These will be high dollar items with universal appeal and are open to non-members as well. You may buy purchase as many tickets as you wish and enter 1 or all of these raffles. Proceeds generate operating budget for the club.

Have neither of you driven to Dover or the beach on Rt 13 before? For the non-locals, it's in Kent County a little north of Dover, a little south of Smyrna. Roughly 45 minutes from Wilmington and an hour from Lewes. The town police regularly run radar along that road, so pay close attention to the 35mph speed limit!

I believe everyone will be pleased to know that they have PLENTY of parking that doesn't require a long walk in the dark like our previous location. They have around 40 spots at the hall and a lot more across the street.

I have but honestly never knew there was a town called Cheswold in between. I guess I thought Dover ran right into Smyrna but never really gave it much thought. Could be a very fine place, I just never knew it was a thing lol.

Hopefully the parking lot is still dark enough and far enough away that some random person can personalize valve stems.

A little history of Cheswold, DE

It began as a result of instalation of Leipsic train station and grew from there.
"in 1888 a contest was initiated to rename the town. The winning selection for town’s new name was Chesswold-composed of “chess” which came from a large group of Chestnut trees near the train depot and “wold” which means forest or trees. The town’s name was later shortened by one “s”."
