Ill chk the leak. I did add stop leak to it sometime last year. ill chk the pump as well.
is there anyway to know if the pump is bad? How can i tell that its not working?
thanks -
My steering is getting stiffer and stiffer. does that mean my stearing box has gone bad?i see the power steering fluid spots on my drive way. over the summer i could just fill it and it would be fine but now its not leaking as fast but its getting rough to steer. it seems to like it has no power steering at all. is my power sterring pump gone bad?
thanx to all

My friend is looking at a possible trade that includes an 89YJ 6cyl. automatic.
Is there anything special he should pay close attention too? I have an 87 so i know my jeep problems but i wasn't sure if there was anything special about the 89's that he should look out for.
thanks

Where is the fuel pump located on an 87YJ. 4cyl. is it in the tank itself? do i need a diffrent fuel pump if i went to a 20Gal tank instead of the 15 Gal. it comes with.
thanks to all

I have the same problem with my 87 yj and its scary when going fast. I was told that there's really nothing to do. that that's the way it was designed. with no resistance whatsoever. I was also told that it meant that the steering box is doing what is supposed to do. I will however change my steering stabilizer this summer. if you find any info on it let me know please

Did you check the relay switch? its under the dash. the original ones are white. i changed mine and it fixed my horn problem
-
mine's in the front

i ended up cleaning some of the rust off, put some rust inhibitor paint on to slow down the rust until summer. Then i took a boat load of silicone to it. just have to wait till next rain. I'll change the rubber and fix it next summer.

found the problem with water behind my dashboard

-
I've done everything i could to figure out where the
water is coming from. I'm gonna have to take the dash off and see exactly where is coming from. I've checked the cowl drain. I siliconed the corners and along the dottom of the windshield frame.Does the cowl have another vent besides the one hose that comes out under the hood through the firewall?
Does the top section of the dash on my 87YJ come off without taking everything apart?
Could the water be coming in through the wipers?
I'm tired of coming to work with my pant legs completly wet

thanks

Is there a way to hook up some type of heating vent to blow heat on your feet? or I'm i missing something . it only comes out the top of the dashboard , right?

I had the rear of my frame redone last year. It was completly rotted away. A shop here in Camden, De. made the section for me and a friend help me weld it back on. It was $175 to have the section made. The best thing to do is cut the section out yourself and have a welder rebuild it like a sleeve so you can slide it back over the original frame and weld it in place.
