Now we're talking. I think I have an idea in mind seeing that. We'll see how it works.

And the old ones came out with no problem.

Hoping to get everything back together before the beach this weekend.

They actually came with some grease but recommend using whatever brand you have around.

Just have to figure out how to keep things lined up while applying pressure with the vise.

I'm working on replacing the bushings on my rear sway bar with a set from energy suspension. The ones on the sway bar itself are easy. The ones in the end links are proving difficult.

Anyone done this before? Any tips? I'm using a vice to try and press them in, but it's proving difficult to keep things lined up under pressure.

To build on what Whatevah said, I used to have 31s on stock wheels with no lift and the tires would rub the control arms. I did switch wheels in going to 33s because they wouldn't fit in the stock 15x7.

I've got 33x12.5 on 15 x 8 with 3.75 in backspacing now. No rubbing and no complaints.

But that was just the tip of the iceberg parts and cost wise.

It's a slippery slope, really depends on what you want to do with the jeep. I've started off roading with the club, so I'm looking at performance first, appearance second. Here's where I started....

If tcatalano takes it and is going to modify for different speakers, I'd be interested in the stock ones. Might be interested in the whole thing if there are no other takers. Speakers in my bar are shot.

I ordered through Amazon, so not sure which I got. But out of the box they are definitely not as stiff as the oem shocks they're replacing.

They have a few different options for valving, it helps to order them from the right company. I can't remember the numbers now, but when I did the longarm on my XJ, I looked up the optimal shocks and they turned out to be ones that Quadratec already had on the shelf.

But, you bring up a good point, just because it's the correct length and "fits these vehicles", doesn't mean it's the right choice.

Sure glad you made that point after I bought shocks and ripped out the bar pins and bushings [emoji3]

I hope to get them in this weekend. Can't feel any worse than it does now.

No. You might need a bolt extractor though. If the metal cup came off either that broke or the bolt broke. You'll have to take a good look at it and see what's left. Or post up a picture of what broke off.

If it's a tj, then yes there should be a bolt holding everything together. Did the cup come loose? Or is it the bumper itself that broke off? I know mine had dry rotted and crumbled.

The tabs that go under the bolt were twisted. The shock came loose from the other side, twisted toward the gas tank and when the suspension compressed it twisted the end of the pin still attached to its bolt.

As for limiting straps, probably not but maybe longer shocks. Only have 2 in of lift. Is there a problem with putting in a shock meant for a 3 inch lift? There seem to be more choices there.
