I live in Wilmington, near Prices Corner. I have a ball joint press, works for u-joints also. If you'd like to borrow.
Thanks. I'm down south of dover so not sure I can make it up there. But I'll let you know if I can make it work.

I have a ball joint press you are welcome to borrow if you want. I'm in woodside.
Let me know.
This is the best way if you have a decent bench vice. Even if you dont you cant make it happen.....

My preferred method. Works like a charm and faster/simpler than messing with a press.
I've watched that one and a few others. Getting them out seems ok. Getting everything back together without a press seems more challenging.
Using a vice to remove the ujoint and then a hammer and socket to install them has worked great for me.
Ok. So I got to work on this today. Been following this write up: http://www.stu-offroad.com/axle/d30/axle-2.htm.
And I'm stuck. Hub won't come off the steering knuckle. Is there some magic trick I'm missing? Or do I just need a bigger hammer to knock it loose?
Go to this link, scroll down to the 2nd photo, then read the paragraphs below it. Makes hub removal a breeze.

This method works great, I have found you can also thread one of your hub bolts back in part of the way and put a deep well socket on the head and achieve the same thing.
Took about 30 minutes and several tries but I got it. Then I see this:

See what?
The rust on the shaft is much worse than I was thinking. Or is that more or less normal for a jeep this age?
That's normal. Clean it up if it makes you feel better, but that area is neither a seal or bearing surface.
Yeah, pretty common for an east coast rig (road salt!!!). You can clean it, apply a liberal coat of grease and use the Alloy USA tube seals if you like. http://www.quadratec.com/products/52420_91X_PG.htm most people just use those to keep the tubes clean if they go mudding or spend a lot of time in the sand.
Alright. I went at the u joint again this weekend and was able to get one replaced. Didn't have time to do both, but having gotten through the first one the next one won't take long. I did end up using the press. Put the press in the vice and everything went pretty smoothly.
So what's next? Every time I complete one thing three others seem to need attention.
I'm going to replace the other front axle u joint, just as a precaution. The one I did today was definitely showing some wear.
Then I have some driveline vibes to address. I picked up a motor mount lift from a club member (Thanks again Curtis) And a 1in. Body lift is on the way. That should take care of the vibes I hope.
After that I think I'm good until something else breaks.

Or until my memory catches up with me...
Still have to install new bump stops and the storage posts for the discos.
Finally got the bl amd mml installed. Some vibrations so I'll have to see if I can adjust the motor mounts to take out some of that, but not too bad.
Ordered the spare but can't get that on until the 18th (hoping to pick up that adaptor when I get to Rausch).
Got new bump stops.
Gave myself a heart attack when I pulled out of the driveway and couldn't press the brakes. Pulled the vacuum line off the brake booster doing the mml.
Have to top off some fluids but should be ready for the 101.
Really looking forward to it!! Just hoping she holds together.
I finally crawled under to see what the new rattle I left Rausch with was all about. Apparently one of my shocks came loose and is now curved to match the gas tank.
So.....
Looking at my options I'm thinking either Bilstein 5100, 5150 or perhaps Fox. Any advice here? What about bar pin eliminators? Any real advantage?
I'm a huge fan of Bilsteins!
