Petitioning Division of Parks & Recreation, Dept. of Natural Resources & Environmental Control Raymond Bivens, Director
Delaware Mobile Surf-fisherman, Inc., (DMS) wants to bring to the attention of Delaware’s’ Division of Parks and Recreation, a part of the Department of Natural Recourses and Environmental Control (DNREC), a situation that is going from bad to worse.
What is about to happen at Cape Henlopen State Park (CHSP) regarding beach access during peak use times during the summer season is the beginning of limiting beach access at the state-managed beaches in Delaware. It will start at CHSP and, in a short time, progressively include all of Delaware’s state beaches if action is not taken.
DMS has stated it will not support or endorse any limitation on access to the state-managed beaches or salt waterways in Delaware.
This petition is being presented to the fishing community at large. By signing this petition, you are telling our elected State legislators and DNREC’s Division of Parks and Recreation to:
[li]Enforce the “actively engaged” regulation that is part of the use of the surf fishing vehicle permit.[/li]
[li]Increase the number of Park Enforcement Officers that have powers of arrest to enforce all Parks regulations.[/li]
[li]Address the issue of wellness and public safety by enforcing the regulations already in place.[/li]
[li]Meet a problem head-on that has been going on for some years and will only get worse if action is not taken.[/li]
Along with signing this you are urged to contact your local State Legislator and State Senator on this matter.
Although this may be an effortless venture, we have called upon the community that uses state-managed beaches in Delaware to be heard.
Bruce West, President
