Failed inspection this morning for, among other things, a P0441 code - EVAP Emission Control System Purge Flow Fault. Could this be related to the gas cap? Or is there something else I need to look at?

Icky had the same code on her TJ. Further digging, via hooking up a smoker at Scotti Muffler in Camden, revealed a crack in the LDP housing under the hood on the driver side fender well area as well in some of the hoses connected to it. The LDP is a leak detection pump and we ended up changing that plus all the rubber hoses going to it. At the very least it's a location to start looking around to see if you can find any obvious cracks or torn rubber hoses. Good luck!
p.s. I'm taking her Jeep through the lanes this evening - wish me some luck too!

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll just look through it over the weekend and see if I can see anything obvious.
I've got time while I wait for the new fender flares anyway......
Good luck with yours!

on my XJ there was a cracked hardline in the back where the fuel line goes to the tank on the frame rail

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like the first step is a visual inspection of everything and then start pulling pieces for a more thorough inspection if necessary.

FWIW, her Jeep had previously spit out an MIL for something similar. After inspecting all over I found some dry rot on the tubes near the pump and had success sealing them back up with F4 tape. That kept the MIL at bay for about 2-3 years until the pump split and then I changed them all out.

Got her Jeep through the lanes successfully tonight. Any luck chasing down a vacuum leak on yours?
