At this point Aaron Im clueless. Spent the day driving around
picking up parts so I didnt have a chance to look at it like id hope,
but I'll start the systematic search here in a couple of hours. After
all the hell Ive been through with this "easy" trans upgrade I was
hoping it would be something like "did you remember to plug the
snapoid back into the widget..." But alas...
Right now the main sysmtom is that besides the failing Ba10 it
was running fine before I started working, now all it does is crank.
No fire at all, but after a few tries I can smell fuel like its flooding.
I'll recheck the spark in a few hours and let you know... -
1988 - 4.0L-Ba10-4x4...
I have a new Luk LFW194 flywheel installed. Was my daily
before the swap. When old CPS did not work, replaced with
new one - no change. Motor cranks and I have fuel and spark.
The only thing odd about this swap (besides the never ending
array of headaches) is that the strap I had holding the motor
level broke the first day - the motor sat tilted back for the
three weeks its taken to put in the new Ax15.
If I have to dig back into the transmission I'm calling it
quits on repair/fit and leaving her sit until Im ready for the
rebuild. I'm hoping theres something obvious I missed, but I
dont see any random plugs sitting loose, and from what ive
read/been told there are no other switches/sensors besides the
CPS that would prevent it from starting...
Any ideas? I have a parts run Sat morning, but I have all
afternoon to pick at issues.... -
If i get her running it would make a great
test run of the new transmission. Wont know
for sure until Sat night though... -
(Hyjacking the thread) - would it be better to upgrade
to an aftermarket performance header, or are the OEM
replacements good enough? Ill need to replace mine
soon too and was considering the Borla but it seems
pricey... -

Sorry....What does the towing company charges have anything to do with the cop?Should have clarified - the last time i had the police call a towing
company on me it was akin to legallized theft. What should have
been a $200-300 bill totalled out to over $2000. Once the police
are called a shady towing company sees nothing but "$$$$"...On one side i dont feel bad for the guy, but on the other this kind
of bureaucratic highway robbery should be illegal as well... -
While im not anti-cop, stories like this are the reason
Im no longer a supporter. This is a classic example
of authority kicking a man while hes down. Do i think
he should be fined? Absolutely. Do I think it was a
complicated recovery? Sure. But charging $50k for
what one guy in a tractor could do in 15min is the real
criminal act here.... -
Im not sure what you mean by tailhousing, but
if its a small (not greasy) part ill be in Dover Saturday.
I could pass through Seaford on my way back, i
have some business out there to attend to anyway... -
I have jeep parts sitting at AndyZj's shop that i need
down in the Georgetown area asap... The trouble is
my new schedule is opposite of his shop hours so i
cant make time to go get them. Monday-Friday 8-4.A few small fragile (read glass) peices. Will pay $30 to
offset fuel/tolls. Let me know. -
I highly recommend Luk if they have them,
you can buy through Rock, but as much
trouble as i had with my last slave/master
generics i dont consider anyone else now... -
I wouldnt mind having one either so dibs
on second (or souther...) -
I hate you...

Bonkers said he wants a "real" truck. That's what I was responding to.
Nothing built on a JK chassis will ever come close to that.
Exactly.
Nothing on a JK chassis... If the Tuner Brutes can't be interesting then
nothing jeep glues onto the platform will be either...
For the purposes of this fiasco I dont even care about "powerplants"
or "ratings" either. I'm fed up with the JKU-platform-of-the-gods swing
running now anyway. After the Chief, Gladiator, and FC "body kit"
concepts i realize that what Jeep is basically doing these days is trying
to find new ways of polishing a turd.
What truly pisses me off in the end though is that the true nature of
its origins are still there and yet they just dont embrace it. The
Renegade could have been spectacular if they made it more truck than
car. The new Cherokee could have been a benchmark if they just didnt
make it look like an Aztec. And here's a thought to sleep on tonight -
the same company that built the Rescue Concept decided, instead, to
channel funding into the glorious Patriot and Compass lines...
I want a real J10 and/or a real Wagoneer. Im too old for childrens toys... -
They want my money they need to ditch this wrangler
crap and actually build a truck. Its my same bitch about
the Chief Concept. I dont care how tough Jeep thinks its
JK platform is, its still not a proper full-size vehicle. The JK Pickup will get a lot of flash up front but will
quickly go the way of the Commander. Wrangler people
want wranglers, pickup people want pickups... -
I have a grill guard in Cape May that i cant
carry over but isnt worth the $90 round trip
to drive. Is anyone crossing from Nj who
could strap this to their roof for 85 minutes? -
Im useless without a studio audience...
-
Where the hell do you shoot that beast
at? Didnt they have them mounted to ships
during WWII? Im picturing you sitting down
range now, lining up your target, and using
Nebraska as your backstop... -

Craigslist is flooded with "rare" cars cheap enough
though. If you have $15k buring a hole in your
pocket i would suggest buying a $5k decent project
and dump $10k into quaility work. Buying someone
else's $5k build for $15k never made sense to me... -
The overspray on pretty much everything is more
of a red flag than the price... there's a lot of hidden
rust on this sweetie...
