OK, this is slightly off topic. What is the great advantage of lining the interior? Granted, my jeep looks like a rat-rod and the sheet metal interior only adds to the "not worth stealing" ambiance.
Does it cut down on noise?

Just a follow up. I could not find a dipstick tube for a 4.2. I ended up purchasing a unit for a 4.0 from Morris 4x4. The new unit fit fine, but was 8" shorter than the old one. Ended up cutting and remarking my dipstick.
The broken off tube came out easier than I expected. an easy-out allowed me to spin it around to a point I could get a screwdriver under it and start working it out. For what it's worth, the interior section of the old unit is much shorter than the new 4.0 dipstick tube.

Pull off the water pump and thermostat and flush the engine. Make sure you have the right water pump. The serpentine belt pumps spin opposite the v-belt units.

I've had to change the passenger side u-joint several times. Can't figure out why the passenger side seems to go before the driver side, but that's another discussion.
When I pull the shaft, I put the jeep in 4wd so the collar is aligning the driveshafts (this may not be necessary.) After you pull off the front hub the shaft will easily pull right out. Try and support it so as not to screw up the axle seals.

I removed the filler hose and took it to my local auto parts store and told them I needed a longer one. They compared it to their collection and found one that did the job.

For what it's worth, I have a 2" body lift on my '87 YJ. The Delaware DMV didn't give me any problem. I did have a problem with the gas tank fill tube/hose. You may need a longer one.

I've got a spare pump for my '87 YJ. It worked last time I used it. I'm just North of Wilmington. You can pay me in beer or shrubbery.

I resolve to stop my jeep from leaking...

Let it run a while and then pull the plugs and see what they look like.

It's all dependent on the engine, transmission, and transfer case you currently have.
