For the non-campers. What’s the meetup spot at AOAA? I’m rolling up early sat AM.
Meet us at the Camp site if your early. Should not be an issue to get back to us.
I'm thinking as a group we will meet at the DEJA RTI ramp in the parking lot at 830.

There's no July or August trail ride? Or October for that matter. 3 trail rides in the 2nd half of the year? FYI, the Sept trail ride isn't on the FB event calendar.
I would like to have a discussion about this very topic this weekend. Looks like we will have a great collection of our wheeling crew in one spot. Hoping we can nail down some dates that work for the majority to finish out the year.

Shoot I'm sorry I messed your name on the list earlier!

ive never done AOAA, but have the experience of 20 or so trips to Rausch under my belt. With some maps, guidance, and maybe a couple "sorry guys" im willing/equipped to lead the green/blues if needed
Perfect, what we will probably do is have both groups stay generally in the same area but break off from each other from time to time. Should work out pretty well, and no matter what it's going to be an awesome day.
-
Can't wait to get out of town and hit the trails.
So far it looks like we have a variety of trail levels requested. Let's talk through how we can break this up. I would like to lead the Blue/Black Group if at all possible.
Guys looking for green/blue, anyone willing to lead? We can probably work out where you guys follow us around and split off and rejoin the group on the other side of some of the harder trails.
Hard stuff guys figure yourselves out.

Additionally there is a possibility that a couple of us my be interested in hitting RC on Sunday. Anyone else interested?

Man this past weekend turned out great! We had a group of 5 jeeps. The weather mostly cooperated, had a bit of rain in the am but it held out the rest of the day. Oh boy did we cover some ground, 19.5 miles! I have never been to both ends of the park in the same day. Everyone in the group did well and to my knowledge we didn't have a single breakage.
Additionally Sunday Matt, My Wife, and I decided to hit RC on the way home. This turned out to be a great decision. The weather was decent all day with periods of sunshine. We again covered a ton of ground, also while hitting some aggressive trails. At some point this weekend my wife became a complete offroading badass and conquered every black trail we put in front of her! I think it's safe to say the blue TJ is no longer my street jeep.

Hey group! Meet at camp spot 123 at 830 AM. We are going to play it by ear on what time we roll out, hoping the bulk of the rain may move out in the AM.
-
Getting close, Matt and I have booked camp site number 123
-
This is the next ride, who's in?
-
No go for Sunday wheeling. See ya next time.

Ok folks, Sundays weather is looking terrible. Matt and I are already up here for the Hammers event, but the dreams of wheeling Sunday are beginning to look unlikely. What does the group think?
-
Ok folks, only a couple days until this awesome event. Matt and I will be heading up Thursday morning. We plan to secure a camp spot in the helpers camping area. This area will serve as home base through the weekend. We should be pretty easy to spot.
We are planning to cook at camp in the evening on Thursday and Friday. More the merrier, bring something to cook, your favorite beverage, and a comfy camp chair. Also if you have a small grill bring that too. We will finish it the evening hanging around the camp fire.
Saturday I'm thinking the group my be interested in hitting O'neills after the event.
We will be staying over Saturday evening and planning to hit the trails Sunday AM. The sign up for this is in this thread.

Welcome back! Look forward to seeing you on the trails. Our next outing is next weekend at RC

Definitely sounds fun. I like the idea of the campfire and wheelin. This would be our first trip (my wife and I). What would we need to bring?
It most definitely will be! Check out the rules page from the RC website below.

A way to air down your tires

Additionally it's always a good idea to give the vehicle a good once over before hand.

Actually TheDarkSide came about because I was originally an XJ guy and my name was BigRed. If anything I'm deeper in the dark lol

Figured I would show my 04 Daily TJ. I was able to get my hands on it cheap, but it was in rough shape. It had been sitting undriven for about a year. Top was dry rotten with zippers that didn't work, tires not much better.
I stripped it down and powerwashed everything. I mean everything, inside and out. Installed new carpet, frameless top.
It already has an OME 2.5 inch lift, I have added 1.5 inch spacer and installed a set of master craft 35 inch tires. Axles have been geared to 5.13 and an auto locker was installed in the front (yeah I know daily driver) the gearing is perfect for the 4 speed auto and I run 75 pretty much daily on route 1.
Couple of frame sections have been done but the front two will need done soon. Overall I'm very happy with how it's turning out, and best of all I finally have a use for my turbine wheels!
