Little more background, the mechanic looked at it on the side of the road for me, adjusted the distibutor and we got it to start, sounded good, heard a tapping sound so shut it off to check oil, would not refire. Had it towed to mechanic, he said #1 only had 50 PSI of compression, his best guess is #1 & 3 are toast.

The jeep has 210,000 miles, but we replaced the engine at 202,000 with a used with 76,000 miles.

Looking for someone to help diagnose a problem with my 2002 TJ with 4L inline 6 motor. Jeep will not start, was going to work the other day and all of a sudden the RPM's dropped, motor started to sputter, got to side of road and would not restart. Someone has looked at it and is telling me the engine is toast, but really want to get a second opinion from someone with knowledge of the Jeep Inline 6.

If anyone knows of someone that can help, please send me a PM or post a name and number.

    Thanks,

    John

I have an update and another question.

We did find a Jeep for our 17 Y/O son, with that being said.....

can anyone tell me if Check Engine Codes that have been cleared recently be retrieved from a jeeps history???

    It is 2002 Wrangler

I will share the details at a later date!!!

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    John

Thanks for the info, greatly appreciated.

Took a trip to the Harrisburg/E-town/York area looking at some things listed on CL on Monday, royal pain. Did come across a place called Mount Zion Offroad in Dover PA, guy there was extremely helpful in some general do's and don'ts when looking.

Does anyone have any recommendations for sites to look for used Jeeps??

We have looked at CL, but that seems to be nothing but BS listings.

Again any help is greatly appreciated!!

Looking to go buy a jeep for my 17 year old son today, searching through CL today and found a couple we are interested in. Had a TJ before and was a member here, went on a couple of rides with the club up to Rausch. Have couple of questions I need answered.

1993 Wrangler in Mays Landing NJ, Gas gauge not working????

99 XJ in Collegeville PA, guy said it is lifted but has wobble at higher speeds, he said is normal????

Any input into this would be great!

    Thanks,

My son Kyle and I had a great time on Sunday. We were part of the group who went out with Randy, this was our first club ride and we had a great time. Randy and Tom helped get us out of a couple of tight spots with great spotting. Kyle has a lot to learn as a spotter/copilot but all in all he did a great job. It was good to meet those in our group and look forward to riding some more in the future. Thanks again to Randy who was spot on as a trail guide.

I had a great time on Saturday, was able to talk to everyone about their vehicle. Thanks to Wayne for the open seat. Glenn and Randy for the escort up and back. I do have some pictures and will work on getting them posted later today. I learned that for as many people you talk too you will get the same amount of opinions on the way to go as far as build up. I appreciate all of the info that was given yesterday, but I still have a ways to go. Look forward to meeting the rest of the members here as well as those I met yesterday.

    Thanks everyone,

    John

In RC forum go to post-trail discussions and look under July 3rd and I'm OK, driver gives his own account of what happened.

Had my first ride at Rausch Creek today, had a great time. Ended on a scary note when our guide rolled five times off the side of one of the trails. Driver and passenger had a few scrapes but were able to walk away. Now I need to make some changes to my rig, let the spending begin!!!
