I put a new tb on my 4 banger and it made a considerable differnce i also just put a k&n fliter not the kit it is a omaha made edition  it has got me more get up and go and helped a little gas mileage wise but i still want more so i think the tb was good but i think with a new exhaust it would run even better i will have to wait on that though unless someone has one lieing around and want give it away i am gonna wait till the lift and tires are hear to see if it is worth the regear money or just ot throw on an exhaust.

Try the tb it will help not a huge amount but it will help. and a cone k&n not the drop in their will be a differnce.

wish i could come down i have to twork all weekend but i am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel so i will continue ot read the posts and gain everlasting jeep knowledge

    welcome scott :wavey:
This is getting back to scotts question about the tires and rims and upgrades. i have black american racing rims 15X8 on some 31inx10.5in bf goodrich and they look better i think the jeep looks tougher and the stance is improved i went to rauch creek with that being my one and olny mod, and i was surprised as hell at what it could do. I would say come on a ride stock to try it out i now know that i want to continue off roading and want to go on bigger stuff i am going to be getting a 2.75 in lift from old man emu and 32 in tires before summer is out.(almost have all the money i need) I am still not going to have the stuff to run the big trails but i will be able to run most of the stuff that i am comfortable on for now. trust me come to a meeting or get in touch with someone near you and start talking to them about what they think all of the guys(and girls no i had not forgotten you girls so calm down, they have helped me alot) in the club the have been very helpful to me in answering all of my questions even as annoying as some of them are. Just ask questions like you are you will learn so much from just doing that it will amaze you.

wait so bigger gears are gonna make me slower on the highway? or will i slow down with my 4.10's and 32 and need to go to 4.56's to gain my speed back and to get my mpg back as well?

    (getting confused again)

i didn't know what sizes i need Bmf24 told me i was crazy to think about putting 4.88's in my jeep but i am not sure how the gears work for a 4 banger i think that the 4.56 would be a good match for me i am looking to have a good combination of on-road off-road performace and i still want reasonable gas mileage i konw that once i bought a jeep gas mileage went out the window but i still like to try to keep it down.

how do gears differ for a 4 cylinder i am looking to have 32s by the end of summer and i am wondering what gears i shoudl be running i come stock with 410's but i want to know if i should start saving for different gears or if i am ok to run those

ok so i got it the 4.10's i have are going to help me on the street to maintain the highway speeds at the stock range of rpms even when i get up to 32's and if i where to go to 4.56 gears i am going to lose that speed at the same rpms making me better when i am going slower but worse on the highway i get it now i understand the regearing thing, everything but the reason for getting lower gears with bigger tires? i am still blurry on that but you have cleared up the gear thing to alot better then it was i had no clue earlier thanks andrew and joe. i will save the bigger tires and lower gear questions for a meeting when i can understand better then trying to piece post together thanks again guys

so to run a higher gear like a 3.73 is good off road to slow you do so that you can go over rocks and other obsticales with out bouncing around so much

But, the lower gears like 4.56 are better for on the street driving and help to improve mpg and the acceleration of the jeep and higher speeds wiht bigger tires is that right?

Am i on the right track now or do i need to switch all of that.

ok i am going to be running 32's on a 4 cyllinder is that still not big enough or is it big enough for me to beable to run 4.56's?

also do you regear the front and the back or jus the rear or how does that work?
so the higher gears are less fuel efficent and burn more gas or is that causeed by bigger tires i am starting to get this like drj but still a little confused.

but then why should we regear for bigger tires if it is better to have low gears off road and we are putting higher ones in? if i go to bigger ones will i suck off road?

if that is not the setup i want then what should i be running if i want 32's on my 4 banger i have 4.10 now i don't know much about gears just the bigger the more power or atleast that is what i understand i could be way off if so some on egive me the heads up on what to do. I want the power back when i get the bigger tires. i have 31's now and i have lost power with them so i know it will be worst once i get a size bigger.

i was thinking of regearing my Tj and i looked at the gears and they are not expensive but i was told that you need to have a professional put them in it is something that you don't want to screw up that is the expensive part for me it was gonna be like 400 for front and rear gears and another 600 or so for the install i still want to do it but i am going to wait till it really need to then get nice big gears like 4.88 in the rear and 4.56 in the front.

it is a good way of gaining power back you just have to have a pro put them in and that is the expensive part unless some one can install them that is in the club and if so give me thier number cause i wouldl love to see if they would give me a deal on a gear switch.

i just had new wires put on and a new rotor and cap so i guess the plugs are the next think to check. could the new k&n be a cause for some of the problem? it is a cone style and i did it my self but the fitting is air tight could it be tomuch air gettting to the engine? how can you clean the fuel filter on the tj's i think mine is in need if a cleaning.
