Well the day got off without a hitch

I was in modified group, and we were running green to tripple blue. Andrew lead us, and except for one spot on a hill, everyone was getting along good. Chris had some damage from that spot, but made it out intact. Ian managed to puncture one of his brand new 35"s. We stopped for lunch, and met up with the stock group. After lunch we swapped leaders (Joe took over for andrew) and we proceeded to go back up turtle, to head to wampum (i think). Joe broke a u-joint, but after some quick repairs we were on our way again. Then all hell broke loose :sniffle:

as we were climbing a fairly difficult rock section (largest I have ever been on) I heard the dredded sound of metel breaking. Thinking it was my rear driveshaft, I was mistaken. The 2" lift block on the passenger side had split into several pieces, spinning the rear axle leaving the pinion facing the sky. Thanks to brain and his friend, and joe and everyone else that helped out, they were able to get the axle spun back around the right way and tighten one of the u bolts. The other had stretched and strpped the threads. We then noticed the other block was cracked and an accident waiting to happen.
    :lie:

So I made it out alive, and nursed it back to the staging area where andrew, was so very generous enought o let me drive his tj, home while he trailered my xj

So the moral of the story is , when you know you should have bought the 300$ spring packs, dont use the cheap 30$ pep boys blocks!

And aside from the driver tire being chewed up by the fender, everyone got home. So it was a good idea at 4am when my sister askes, "do you want me to drive one of the other trucks there, in case something happens, we can all get home". Good lookin' out sis!

the kumhos for the money, I dont think can be beat. (in the same price range) they are what 109 each from the tire rack. there is a special on goodyear mtr's 155 a piece and you get a 75 grocery gift card, so that brings them down to 137 each. the rovers are 102 each. The ratings on tire rack list the kumhos above the rovers by far, higher than the bfg's and just about on par with the goodyears.

Its past my bed time, I hope this helps.

Do searches on jeeps unlimited, and read what people have to say about them, then make your decision.

If money was not a factor, I would get the swampers, seeing as money is, I would get the kumhos.

Not many miles, so I really couldnt say. They have been driven down to the beach and back twice and some around town, and we love them. they are strong, agressive, and have the siping for better wet, icy traction. I havnt been able to find a bad thing about them.

well by load noise, probably not any loader than a bfg m/t. If you can wait a week (I am going away, you can drive both my trucks, if you would like, to get a sampling.

I was originally going to get a bfg at for the grand because I drive too much on the street and wanted to cut down on the noise, but now I am putting the swampers on that as well as on my wifes new tj, when I lift it.

If it was a 5.9L limited they came stock with the hood vents. The motor is so hot, jeep put them in. They also have the 5 star rims, and the honey comb grill as well as the 5.9 limited badging and some other interior pieces. They do work.

I also read a study about a cowl hood, It was on a 4.0l cherokee, and it lowered the ambient temp. in his engine compartment, by 90+ degrees.

I dont know if I want to spend the money on a hood, so I might just try the ghetto spacer on the hood hinge way, only time will tell.

    Chris

You saw my super swamper's in 35" form, and as I told you, I love them on the road, they are 127 each in 33". I also told you about my kumhos on my grand, and I like them, they wear really well, and perform as expected off road. They are however louder than my super swampers (go figure). I cant wait to get the swampers on the trail!

The Khumo Mud Terrains are a good tire as well and cheap. I run them on my grand cherokee, they have lasted very well, driving them on the road (daily driver) and have almost an identical tread patern to the bfg m/t. They do hum a little going down the road. If you read the comparisions on tire rack, everyone seems to like them.

anyone up for helping with my motor, tranny, swap on Friday?

I am swaping a 4.0 with aw4 and t case still atached as one unit into my cherokee. Removing old 4.0 and b10 tranny.

If anyone is willing to help, let me know (what do I need to get to bribe you?)

    Thanks
