without knowing how many miles you have on the engine ( i suspect over 150,000 ) it prob. going to be your timing chain and sprockets. if your not able to do this type of repair. then you should seek a qualified garage. the repair can be done in about ( 5 ) hrs. if you have parts and tools and a good place to work..

good looking jeep.

i'm not sure i would belive this photo. to great of span without bracing to prevent the timber from opening up in the center. plus i would have removed the tires from the rims to allow better stability on the logs to keep from sliding off. to many what ifs.

My old 4.2 was similar . No preasure at idle around 10 psi. also had about 172,000 miles on it. When I rebullt motor new H.V. pump new bearings and seals. Pressure went up to 45 psi. at idle at higher rpms. around 65 psi. new sender and connections on sender. Motor bored out .040 over, stroked and blue printed with H.O. 4.0 head. runs very strong . after 6,000 + miles no issuse or problems with oil pressure.

i was already familer with the balistics of the 6.8 . although you state reasons for the choice...... muzzle energy to target is by far ( to me ) more important of a reason than just a platform . not trying to have a pissing contest here . i was wondering why you went in this direction . happy hunting and good luck ..

what did you find in a 6.8 ballisticlly that made this your choice ? i have been involved in firearms for many years. was it just the fact that its in an AR config . ?

I'll bring some wings and sodas to share.

it will be just me this year. i'll bring something to share.

Just think all of these robberies could have been prevented with one good sniper on the roof. All the police would have to bring to the crime seen is a piece of chaulk. Nothing says stop better then a .50 cal. Just smile and wait for flash !!!

well here's the latest update. when the differental was pulled three teeth were broken on the ring gear. the rearend spec. said the cause was it was not rebuilt correctly. the wear marks on the pinion and ring gear shows the position was out of alingment. the spacing between ring and pinion was also done wrong.
apparently to gauge out a dana 35 you must have the dana tools and gauges to set it up correctly. -
your talking to an old dog. i've been wheeling since 1975 and a mechanic by trade. i should think i should know when i need to upgrade. i thank you for your comments. but i stand by my choice.
-
its not an issue of upgrading to a dana 44 when its not necessary i don't get into to much heavy off roading. the dana 35 will perform adequately for my needs for now.
-
thanks alot. Aaron but i've found a service tech that rebuilds and regears for a resonable price thats only 8 miles away. He has all the alignment tools and gauges to do just about any rear, any make. it goes to him wendsday next week.

tires are 33", gears are 4:56, detroit soft locker.
-
was told they were yukon
-
broke a tooth on the pinion.

I've held back on upgrading because I don't do enought heavy off roading to warrant it. I don't belive when it was re-geared the job was not done correctly. This shouldn't have failed driving normally.
