Thanks, and have a nice day! :)

Again, so sorry to hear this Keith. Selena and I have you and your families in our thoughts. I am happy I decided to come to the last GWNF trip, it was the last time I got to see you both, and I'm grateful for one more weekend of special memories with her. She was a huge positive force behind both DeJA and JfJ, and she will be truly missed.

The weekend was great, and I thank you all for the much needed break, good times, relaxation and un-pineapple upside down dutch oven cake on the fire. It was great to hang by the fire with some of you again, and to meet some new people (and dogs) as well. Didn!'t have my camera, and only took a few pics with my phone, so I'll let others pics tell the story. Along with the popcorn video. Good times people.

Only one small hang up traffic wise on the ride home, an accident on the bridge had a few mile back up, but 495 was clear. I was expecting that to be very slow like the ride down. Got home around 6pm, emptied the Jeep and took off the now useless softtop after destroying the rear window zipper this morning. Put the raingear cover on for now. Jeep ran great considering it hasn't run much at all for quite awhile.

Hope everyone had a good safe ride home.

    Cherries sound awesome.

Also Keith, do you have any member decals? And are 2012 available yet? I want to pay and get caught up if possible. If not, I'll try to make the next meeting. Sundays are hard for me even though it's the only day I have off, it's the only day I get with my kids and we usually have other stuff planned.

Andrew, didn't know you were going! Great to see you too. Wait for me a 1/2 mile from camp.....

If you all have room for 1 more, I'm going to come down for the weekend. Got the schedule to work to get me off early on Thurs through Sunday. Not exactly sure when I'll be down, either later Thurs (possibly real late....) or Fri morning and heading home Sunday. Just not sure when I'll get going exactly. Plus I have a bunch to do on the Jeep before leaving since it's been sitting idle or only taking me to work for the last few years.

It'll be good to be back in the woods and sitting by the fire with you all.

Anything I need to bring? Pick up some firewood?

    And what are drunken cherries?

    Dave.....you're alive!! :spinrhead:

I signed the title, it's in the glove box with the keys. I did lock the Jeep, but the spare keys are right on the hood. I put a big flourescent orange glow-in-the-dark flag next to the keys, so you shouldn't have any problem finding them. Thanks for your help.

The optima charged, but I see what you're saying. The backup battery also charged (at least the charger said it was at 100%) so I will try to swap that out and see if it makes a difference at all. I was afraid to pull the battery out of the Libby to try in it for fear it would magically suck that battery dry too and leave me with no vehicle at all. I'll check the ground wires too. This is of course once I have some free time.....

It's proving hard to troubleshoot in my driveway!

I did completely remove the connection to the PDC yesterday and both connections looked fine. I don't see anything wrong with any of the cables or connections.

I'm at a loss. :help:

Does anyone know if a code reader would still pull codes if the computer was shot? Just so I can hopefully rule that out.

    Any other suggestions?

I imagine if this melted it would be obvious. I cut the black rubber casing off and there was nothing burnt or melted on the green wire that I could see.

Jerry also lent me his code reader, but the only code it pulled was:

P0443- (generic)- Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit
Manual says "An open or shorted condition detected in the EVAP purge solenoid control circuit"

Again, not an electrician, or a mechanic, but this doesn't seem like it would be the cause of my problems.

Should I replace all the black relay fuses under the hood? I don't know what else to check unless I blew the computer. But if I did that, would it still pull codes with the reader?

Any help would be most appreciated! Thanks.

the only green section of wire I see comes out of the fuse block under the hood, and connects to a red wire that goes to the generator. Is that it? It covered by a rubber casing where it's joined to the red wire.

    ME: I'm Paul, I haven't posted in awhile. I have 3 kids and I'm a Leo.
    JEEP: 2000 Wrangler TJ 4.0l

Problem: We have to go back to when there was snow on the ground. Remember the snow?? I was out driving in it, came home and left a light or something on and it killed my Optima battery. Bought a replacement battery and put that in and was driving around in snow again. Did not have the battery tightened down enough and it slid in the tray. The positive terminal hit the body of the Jeep and I lost all of my electrical. The Jeep still ran fine, just had no lights, heat, gauges, etc. Jeep sat, replacement battery died. Charged it once a few months ago and Jeep started right up and gauges worked.....UNTIL I hit brake pedal, or turn on lights, or do anything that involves electrical and the gauges go dead. Nothing electrical works, but Jeep does start and run. At least until is sat for the last 5 months and battery died again.

Yesterday, pulled the alternator and took it to Pep Boys for testing. They say it's fine. Put it back in. Checked all the fuses I could find (under hood, behind glove box) and nothing is bad. Checked wires underhood between battery, starter and alternator, all look fine. Nothing melted, burned or broken. Charged Optima with a battery charger (thanks Slimer!) and today the Jeep starts again but STILL have no electrical.

WHAT AM I MISSING? Could the Pep Boys test be wrong? Is there an inline fuse I can't find? I'm no electrician, and really need some help on this. I also cannot seem to pull codes with the turning the key 3 times thing, and I don't know if a reader would work if the electrical is fried.

Any help, suggestions, or a large explosive device (last resort) would be greatly appreciated. I'd really like to get her on the trails again, not to mention just on the street!

Thanks! :spinrhead: :spinrhead: FREE LITTLE CAESARS MEAL DEAL TO WHOEVER SOLVES MY PROBLEM!!* :spinrhead: :spinrhead:

    Question:
I've been reading the forums for awhile, and I'll occasionally see mention of Jeeps for Joy, or JfJ. What is that?

    Answer:
Jeeps for Joy (JfJ), or officially, the Delaware Jeep Association's Jeeps for Joy Memorial Toy Drive, is DeJA's biggest charity event, the main part of which happens on the 2nd Saturday in December each year.

    Question:
Ok, but what does is it do?

    Answer:
Volunteers from DeJA work together to set out donation boxes, mostly at businesses that cater to children (daycares are our biggest contributors, but also dance studios, karate studios, or ANY business that will have their employees and/or clients donate new, unwrapped toys). The boxes are set out in the beginning of November and collected a few days before the event. Donations from these boxes, and from DeJA members are pulled together in one location to be delivered to our beneficiaries.

    Question:
    Who benefits from this?

    Answer:
JfJ has two beneficiaries. The largest is the Nemours/ A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children just off Route 202 in Wilmington. Many children are consistently cared for there for a variety of reasons, and most of us have had, or know a child that has gone there. It is our hope that the donations we collect and deliver there will help relieve some of the emotional and financial stress put on these children and their families during the Holidays. We deliver the donations directly to the hospital on the day of the event in December.

Our second beneficiary is Children's Choice Foster Care agency, near the Christiana Mall. This organization places children with caring foster families. Unfortunately, many are placed close to the Holidays leaving the foster families unprepared to have gifts for these children. We pull a portion of our donations for Children's Choice and purchase some specifically for them, and they are delivered directly to their office on the Monday after our event. Their employees then wrap and tag the gifts for specific children, and they are given to the children at their annual Holiday Party. For the past few years, DeJA has been the ONLY contributor of gifts for this organization.

    Question:
Cool, now I'm really excited! How can I get involved?

    Answer:
The JfJ organizers, who are DeJA members just like you, are always looking for people to either help us with existing donation locations, or suggesting new locations, and providing donation boxes and information to these locations, checking in with the location about mid way through, and then picking up the box and donations and bringing it all to the Toy Drive in December.

    Question:
Do I get paid for helping?

    Answer:
    No.

    Question:
Does JfJ have a really cool logo like DeJA has?

    Answer:
Yes, but ours includes a Jeep AND Santa.

    Question:
Can I, or a business I am involved with, donate money? And is it tax-deductible?

    Answer:
Yes. Jeeps for Joy, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization. Any donations to us are tax-deductible. Check can be made out to Jeeps for Joy, Inc, and mailed to the address on the JfJ website.
PayPal donations may also be made to jeepsforjoydonation@gmail.com

    [b]Question:
If money is donated, what is it used for?

    Answer:
A number of things, such as insurance to cover our use of the parking lot in Pike Creek Shopping Center where we hold the main event, postage and informational fliers for donation locations, raffle items, and incorporation costs. However the bulk of donated money goes towards buying specific gifts for the children at Childrens Choice based on a "wish list" that they provide for us for each child.

    Question:
    Does JfJ have a website?

    Answer:
Yes, you can find a history of the event, more information, and pictures of past events at www.jeepsforjoy.org

    Question:
What do I do next if I want to get involved?

    Answer:
We normally start planning the event in July or August, and contact past and hopeful donation locations in September by letter, and then a follow-up phone call to see if they can help us this year. Once we have the locations lined up, we'll post on DeJA asking for volunteers to help with the locations. Just keep an eye out for any Toy Drive posts and jump in! An even better way to help out is to ask any friends or family members that either own or work at a business that might be interested in hosting a donation box, and ask them if it is OK for Jeeps for Joy to contact them, and then get us their information.

    Question:
If I have more questions after reading the JfJ website, or have suggestions about something, is there someone I can call or email?

    Answer:
Yes. You can send any questions and/or comments to jeepsforjoy@gmail.com, or send a PM on this website to either wanderlust (Paul), or Wolverine (Brian) and we'll do our best to answer any questions and gather information. Contact information is also on the JfJ website.

    Question:
And you're sure I don't get paid for helping?

    Answer:
    We're sure.

    Question:
So what DO I get out of helping all of these children have a great Holiday?

    Answer:
You get a really warm, fuzzy feeling inside by helping all of these children have a great Holiday.

    Thanks for reading!

TOTAL DONATION COUNT WAS 1888! UNBELIEVABLE. We were thinking with the economy the count would be low, but people really came through this year.

I would like to extend a HUGE THANKS to Brian Little, Billy Knox, Peter Fontaine (brought water also) and Tom Hickey for their work in getting donations, donation boxes, etc. Without the manpower and a lot of running around, this wouldn't get done.

THANKS to Quadratec for once again coming through with donations for us!

THANKS to all of the business locations that hosted donation boxes, and their patrons, this is where a large bulk of the donations come from.

THANKS to Patti and Melissa for running the table, selling tickets, etc.

THANKS to everyone that came out early and fought the wind to help us set up.

And THANKS to all of you that came out to the event, bought raffle tickets to raise money for next years event, and made your donations! A VERY successful year for our event, and we're looking to top 2000 next year!

Best Wishes for Very Merry Christmas to everyone!

    THANKS!
    Paul

EDIT: Forgot also Wawa for donating the drinks, and Herr's for donating the snacks.

If anyone is willing and able to show up at Jeeps for Joy early, we appreciate any help to set up the canopy and tables. We start around 9am with the set up, please be in the Kmart parking lot by then.

    Thanks!

It'd be nice to go Saturday after the toy drive, but I've got a nephews confirmation I'm already missing in the morning. I have to make it to their house in the afternoon. If I get to go at all this weekend it'll be Sunday sometime.
