Hello everyone, ESJA wants to invite DEJA to another event. Laurel and Delmar, Delaware Meet/Greet/Wheeling/Camping Sept 19 & 20 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eastern Shore Jeep Association will be hosting a meet and greet at TrapPond State Park in Laurel, DE on Saturday Sept 19, 2009, definate time is TBA but probably will start around noon. For those interested we will be cooking food and have beverages on hand. Here is the basic run-down of the weekend's events! Start meeting around noon at the park. Will be cooking hotdogs and hamburgers. Will have soda and water on hand as well as chips. Admission to the park will be $10 for the meet and greet per vehicle. Lunch will be $3 and you will get your choice of Hotdog, Hamburger or Cheeseburger, small bag of chips and can of Soda or bottle of water. The reason for charging admission for the meet and greet at this location is because the club must buy day pass booklets, each booklet gives you either 6 day passes for Delaware Vehicles or 3 day passes for Out Of State vehicles which either way the booklet costs us $15. There will be access to volleyball and horseshoe pit's as well, so it should be a fun time all around. Those with families can come out and go biking and hiking as well. We will also be having raffle's such as $50 gas card and a winch raffle, will update on the brand of winch within the next week or so but I believe its a Smittybuilt XRC-8. Tickets for the winch raffle are $2. We will be holding a Show N Shine at the park with trophies given out to the winners. The link to Trap Pond can be found here: http://www.destateparks.com/park/trap-pond/ After this is over, around 5 or so, those wishing to go wheeling and camping can follow us the 10-15 minutes south to the land we have as a club for camping and wheeling through sunday. The cost for camping and wheeling is a additional $20 per vehicle as per club bi-laws. A little information about our land. It is 60 acres with about a 1 to 1.5 acres cleared for a camping area. There are no amenities at the campsite area, its pack out what you pack in. There may or may not be a Porta-Potty available, will know more within the next 2 weeks or so. There is plenty of space to setup multiple tents. At this time there is a stock trail cut for vehicle's to make it back that are equipped with 4 wheel drive. There is no way right now to make it back with a pop-up camper or RV. However we do have a area less than 1/8 mile from the land where you can come and park your RV/Camper's and Tow Rigs and Trailers! More about our land, it is primarily mud obstacles, mud crossings and so on. We have added some technical area's including a flex hills section and a tire obstacle section, as well as other trails that we are working on building that are less mud and more technical, however it is a on-going process. At the land for camping and wheeling, the food we have left on hand will be cooked for dinner and more can be aquired at the Wally World about another 5 miles from the land. Soda and water will be on hand. Alcoholic beverages may only be consumed while at the campsite and no intoxicated individuals will be permitted on the trails. Alcohol will be a BYOB thing. All persons entering the land, MUST sign a land waiver. All vehicle's wheeling MUST have the following safety equipment: Tow Strap rated 1.5 times your vehicle weight (or operable winch) (no metal hooks) Seatbelts for all passengers. Proper sized spare tire Fully Charged Fire Extinguisher Properly mounted front and rear tow points And Battery Tie Downs, no bungie cords. We had a mini show in April and had a great weekend. Hoping to have another one with more activities and a good turn-out. This isnt limited to just jeeps, its all 4x4 vehicles (excluding quads). So if you want to come out and hang and meet some people, your looking at spending around $20 for a saturday of fun. If your looking for a weekend getaway to do some camping, wheeling and tellin lie's around a camp fire, your looking at spending around $40. Plus alcohol, raffles or BYOB. But both those prices will get you here, in and fed as well as plenty of fun.
