Recomend me a soft top. opinions

  • My 04 wrangler came with a hard top only so in market for a soft top for the summer. I need the top and all hardware. I have full doors. What is a good top? I see frame less and so on. Anyone have input it would be great. Thanks

  • if you put your top up and down a lot I'd recommend the supertop NX

if you usually just pull the rear windows and rock the canopy I'd recommend the trektop NX

the rampage trail top isn't bad either, but you will need a bunch of hardware to make it work, whereas the trektop nx comes with everything you need

All you need is a header panel to attach it, I owned one of these on my old TJ and it was horrible... It was a pain to put on and off, my zipper lost a couple teeth on the first day, and it started to fall apart after the first year, the straps broke a couple times.

I will not buy another brand other than Besttop...

he doesn't have a soft top, so he would need the header, door surrounds and tailgate bar

  • Last jeep had the payment ends flip top.and it was easy to work with and held up great but it also was for half doors. I will look into above links.
I do like the look of the fastback style but unsure if it cuts head room in back.

Is the TREC TOP NX harder to put up and down? Like the look of it and I do put top.all the way down in summer. Thanks

  • It's not really hard to take down, it's just not something you can do away from home because you can't fold it down like a normal top. While you can fold the forward half backwards like the Sunrider factory top, there's no pivot hardware to fold the whole thing down. You can run this as a full top, as a sunrider top (windows in, front half folded back) as a bikini top (top on, pull the windows), weird half-bikini (windows out, front half of the bikini folded back), or completely removed. A bunch of photos showing the various options here: http://www.bestop.com/component/products/?view=product&id=12

Artie is spot on with his recommendation. Supertop NX or Trektop NX, depending on your intentions.

2020 Gladiator Mojave - 33" Falken mud tires, LoD side steps, Zroadz bed rack, Quadratec QRC winch bumper, Superwinch EPi 9.0, Kleinn on-board air, Kleinn air horns, lots of lights, Yaesu ham radio with GPS tracker.

Gone- 2012 JK Rubicon with stuff. Long gone- Long-arm 2001 Cherokee with stuff.

  • Really wanted one I could fold down so I guess I will look into supertop. Thanks for imput. Damn things are not cheep. Was thinking of selling my hardtop.

  • I just bought a soft top for my 4 door 2011 Sahara. I searched around and the cheapest was on 4wd.com. I checked the prices and the 2 door for your year was $661.22. ::)

From the link Artie posted, Quadratec has the TJ Supertop NX for $651.29. I'll be ordering a Trektop NX from them sometime this spring, after I figure out where to store my hardtop.

I'll have to take a picture of my storage botch job but essentially I throw my hardtop on top of a bunch of junk/trash in my shed.

  • I guess I'm just a cheap bastard....I was gonna suggest a decent condition used OEM top with (depending on condition) a new set of windows.

A few bucks at an upholstry shop and it can be good as new.
