DEJA 2023 Surf Fishing Tournament! Saturday July 1st 9 am to 4 pm

    Our annual surf fishing gathering in Lewes, De. At Navy Crossing at Cape Hen|open Park.

    There will be giveaways and freebies for members. Prize for the biggest fish!

    Important, with the new reservation system you will need to make your beach reservation on Wed June 28 at11am to ensure a drive on reservation. If you dont have a tag or reservation, you can still come out. Members will be happy to drive you out.

    This event is always a favorite. You dont want to miss it.


    Sorry for the late post on this one. Time got away from me. Hope to see the regular crowd as well as some new faces out there . Many of us share special food , snacks , drinks ext. Makes the event more social. Not required at all. Grilling and 100% self contained fires for cooking are allowed on the beaches as well as well behaved leashed dogs . Event starts at 9am, but many of us will be out there earlier. We will be meeting up at our usual location, left at the crossing, just past the big dune. post if you will need a ride onto the beach, we will be sure to accommodate you.

    To clarify, are the tournament hours 9-4? It's usually 10-3, this is from another year:


    Same rules as previous years?


    1. Longest fish (scale)

    2. Longest living thing (non-fish, horseshoe crab or human)

    3. Longest horseshoe crab

    4. Executive decision of BOD or whomever is capable of making a semi-rational decision at that point.





    So if a 10" fish (#1) is caught and a 14" horseshoe crab (#3) is caught

    the fish wins because it's in a higher category, length doesn't matter

    unless you're comparing the same category. If only a horseshoe crab

    gets caught it wins because there's nothing in category 1 or 2.

    Tournament starts at 10am (try to be on the sand as early as you can to

    save room, remember no double stacking vehicles front to back) and goes

    until 3 but could go later if the judges are passed out or if nothing

    has been caught.
