I plan on heading down, if nothing else to see if I can
find me some Mj parts... Probably be there Friday
    night and Saturday day...

Hey Kuntryboy - just FYI, I have someone else interested in the
base who wants to come pick it up on Monday. Have you figured
things out on your end yet? I'm not sure whats up with my
PMs (they dont seem to be refreshing) so I dont know if you tried to
reach me or not. My "on the road email" is type3particle - gmail - com
I should be back by noon tomorrow. Let me know!

    The mustang is beyond repair.

I was thinking about using my dumptrailer and sitting
It flat on top - might work. As for disassembly - it is a
framed settled floor. For all the effort you might as well
just build one from scratch. Im free next Sat afternoon
you bring your little trailer and some friends (recommend
4-5) and load it, ill drag it to newark for $50/gas-tolls.

14'x8' not including the extra un-
attached step. Would make a great
little deck if you re-do the floor. Youll
need several buddies to lift it though -
I havent gotten my tractor yet. Ill gladly
help out any way i can - hate to see it
    thrown out.

Pressure treated wood frame with almost good OSB flooring. Its 8x14
give or take, level, and mounted on two 2x6 beams. Its VERY, VERY
heavy and will need several strong friends to help move. Its not much,
but I figure its a hundred bucks of material to get a small deck or custom
    shed started.

Gonna start tearing into next weekend (8/8ish) unless someone
wants to claim it. Please let me know. The playset is gone...

Thr baby blue one? Its at Wrights used cars.

Last time i checked in on that rust bucket he wanted
an obscene amount. I wanna say $12-15k but my
memory is shot. Either way, my first impression was
that he had no intention of ever selling because it
    brings people into his showroom...

Okay, so a friend of mine is sitting on a brand new take-off set
of JK Goodyear SR-As (255/75r17) that he bought for his Yj.
He decided against lifting his rig and asked me if I knew anyone
who wanted them. The wheeler-dealer inside me could not resist
so here they are. Located in Talleyville, this set of five brand new,
never seen highway jeepin' gems could be yours for the low-low
price of... hmmm... seems he forgot to give me an exact asking price
... so lets pick a nice round number... $922.17... or bestest offer.

You can contact Chris at his email malonec@gmail.com
or PM me if you need more info. I dont know how eager he is to
sell, but I will delete this post if he gets a bite. Good Luck!

Not what i was told at the dmv. Not saying u r wrong but i have never seen a statute stating this.

... legally speaking youre both right...

Engine swapping falls under the control of the EPA, not
local law enforcement. And they are VERY clear about the
    statutes...

The way the Mobile Source Enforcement Memo reads is
pretty cut-and-dry. Basically it says an OWNER may be
allowed to replace/swap an engine so long as he makes
a good faith effort to retain (or improve) the emissions
standards of the vehicle for that particular model year.
The way i read this though is that if your 1980 civic motor
has better emissions than your 96 4.0L there is no legal
reason preventing you from doing the swap, however
    unlikely that senerio is... A 1987 4.0L being put into a 1996
Xj would probably fly as well seeing a "reasonable" owner
could infer they are basically the same motor and therefore
    have equivilent smog readings.

If one were caught blatantly ignoring emissions standards
(say by putting a 1966 427cid into a Yj and then driving it
on the street) first offense is $2,500, a year in jail, and
forfeit of said vehicle for destruction. Oh and keep in mind
    that is a federal offense...

Now heres the catch - the EPA is *currently* not actively
pursuing individuals on the condition of their car so the
chances of being caught are pretty much nil. However, if
you get stopped by the wrong cop, or inspected by the
wrong DMV tech, then it will get very real, very quick...

If you ask the mj club $5500 is s steal. One
just sold for $19500 two months ago. I however
dont share that setiment - the 2.1s are anemic
at best and repair parts simply do not exist.

Like the diesel Xj, youre buying this because
its rare, not because its special...

Bumping this back to the top. Been on something of a
part roundup here lately since it feels like I am getting
closer to the final push. Ive heard rumors of two Mjs
sitting in backyards (one in Harrington area, on in
Townsend area.) If you see a commanche sitting in
a backyard, or out for sale, please let me know. I have
no issue with knocking on a strangers door!

As always I appreciate any/all help Ive been getting on
    this little obsession!

I am finding myself in need of a solid tractor with a
front end loader. I have me heart set on a New Holland
TC28(ish) or Ford 1710 type - though i certainly will
consider just about any manufactuerer if the price is
Right. Im limiting myself to $5-6k range but right now,
But i would love to hear what you have.

They did away with attached plate policy years ago.

In fact, the DMV auctioned a single digit plate a few years
back as some sort of PR stunt. I think its the reason we
suddenly started seeing $200,000 tags all of a sudden...

Its gonna need a lot of parts to make a trailer,
Taillights ($150 if you can find a set) tailgate,
axles, springs, wiring... $500 is a good price
for a rust free bed, but if you want a trailer
it would be better to find a donor truck...
