I use an ARB and I have had the water over the mirrors.

The reason for the exhaust up high. Is If you shut down for any reason the rapid cooling of the exhaust will work like a vacuum. And remember you always have an exhaust valve open when the engine is off so water is able to get into the motor. So if you keep running a low exhaust is OK. Also for every inch of water over the head the motor has to rase the rpm by 50 just to maintain idle. That means with 6 inches over the head on an engine that idles at 650rpm's you now need 950rpm's. to show this breath through a hose at the surface as you go deeper it gets harder till you cant breath anymore.

I have a Lock-Right and a Quick-Locker and if when turning I get a little to hard on the gas it will chirp and slide a tire. I found that I had to learn how to drive all over agen.

Hi :santawave as for gearing. I put 33's on my XJ and ran it for a while with the stock gears. The RPM was to low and it had to shift a  lot even on a slight grade. Off road I had to use ::xmasunhappy low range all the time. I put in 4.10 and it runs fine. When you change gears that is the time that you should put in lockers. I have a Dana 30 in the front and put a Lock-Right in the front. There is a Chrysler 8.25 in the rear and I installed a Quick-Locker. Good Luck You can contact me if you have any questions. ::reindeer

What have outer people done? :hmm: The Radiator in my XJ has started to leak  where the tank meats the coils. I can get an all metal 3 row for $149 or an aluminum fits all for $189 plus $16 for mounting brackets. An aluminum Griffin direct fit is $549. I feel that I need better cooling because I run hot on the trail and start to burn my transmission fluid. What have other members done?

:hmm: Someone came up with the idea of flags like Paragon has to be made up for the Toy-Run. I thing that would be a great idea. I :yevil: would like to see a short part of the run pass a Construction site.

    GOT MUD

I welded :lbulb: the spiders  on my old 74CJ-5. In less then a month I destroyed  the rear differential and went to Rockwell's. Don't  do it unless you never want to drive on any hard road.

:hmm: I Cleaned mine with dish soap and water. First I put in some alcohol to soften the dirt then. I filled them 1/4 way with the mixture and shuck well. You don't want to use anything that can harm the mirror finish. My Hella head lights are fine now. Also clean the bulb with alcohol and do not touch after with your fingers. The oil from your fingers will make the bulb burn out it creates a hot spot on the bulb.

XJ99, :hmm: I can make you a set just like I have on my XJ. Or even weld the set off of mine. :lbulb: I have designed a new set that have both hooks and shackles. I am just waiting for the machining work to come back. Then I can weld :lie: it together. What I did was to weld them to the unibody and then tie each side to each other. What is on there now cost me about $20. in parts and 4 hours welding.

You can see how they sit under and back from the front bumper.

Let me know if you are interested?

I  put on my lights the other day. I  put on 4 ProComp 6X9 150Watt. :lbulb: lights. They are not wired yet I know I need a second battery and a bigger alternator. :shh: Then I will be ready to X-ray H2's.

:flag: I have to say that I had a :spinrhead: BALL even Thu I only had 4 hours sleep sense :shh: Friday. We went with 15 Jeeps and I believe we went on the Eagle Ridge Trail it was over by Jack Frost there was 5 XJ's in our grope.

On the first part of the trail their was a steep decent of about 30ft with a creek and a right turn at the bottom they told us not to use your brakes. I watched a few jeeps back wheels  lift as they went down. I don't mind saying that I was :disturbed: nervous. The Irish Renegade performed a lot better then I thought it would.

We stopped on the bank of the river in a rock field for lunch. I had a lot of mud in my Right Rear brake and it was hanging up so when we stopped for lunch I took a ride in the :hmm: river to wash them out.

The second half of the trail had a little more mud. one TJ broke down he had a charging problem and they had to tow him off the trail.

The last hill was cool. I was next to last just behind Paul's XJ and watched him smack  the Tree. I thought I saw his front marker go  flying but it turned out that it was only tree bark. Then it came to me I did not think that I would make it. :help: On my first try I started to hook toward the tree due to the ruts in the hill so I mad a second attempted. On this run when it hooked to the left toward the tree I turned right got off the throttle for a second then nailed it and she came right up without the tree jumping in front of me. I think Ian scared :maul: the tree.

All in all it was a great day off the trail by 15:30 (3:30pm) and on the road home at 16:00. Had to make it home to see the Sopranos.
    :soapbox:
:note: This run alone is a reason to pay you dues and be a full member. :lbulb:
