just switched the tb on my 2.5

  • i found a 96 grand cherokee with a 4.0 in it and got the tb off it. the differnce between the 2 are the i think it is the map senser facing the fender. i took the map senser off and pluged the hole put it on the yj and it ran great. i could feel a power differnce. the only problem i am having is the idle drops down slow. when i let off the gas the idle holds around 1500 then it drops on down to about 650 -700rpms. what could the problem be?

  • Vacuum leak.

With the motor running, spray some either or something around the mating surfaces of what you just put back together. If the rpms go up or down then that's where it's leaking. You can use propane too.

  • that would be the idle adaptation. did you swap out the idle air motors? notice on them they say 2.5l and 4.0l. swap them out and then disconnect the battery for a few minutes. should relearn idle
