Being new to jeeps, I have not seen many threads on welding every other tooth on the spiders for lockers.
I have had good sucsess with bigger rears doing this but the rears in the jeep are very dainty. The jeep I have has 4:10 gears in it so no need for a new carrier just the locker part. Has anyone done this mod on these little rears?

If your talking about welding the spiders of a Dana 35, I wouldn't recommend it, especially with larger tires. Snapping C-Clip axles doing a u-turn would be a drag.

I welded
the spiders 
on my old 74CJ-5. In less then a month I destroyed 
the rear differential and went to Rockwell's. Don't 
do it unless you never want to drive on any hard road.
