yj question

  • looking to buy another jeep. found a good project yj for a great price....thing is it has a bad connecting rod! 6 cylinder. how much work would i be looking at?

  • droping the oil pan removing the head. it's a day job the head but deff doable. while ur in there might wanna pep it up a bit even but that is completly up to you

  • It's easy to do unless the crank shaft is damaged from the bad connecting rod. Then you'll need to pull the motor to remove the crank shaft.

Regardless, while you're at it you might as well replace the rings and bearings. They're easy to do.

Then, instead of putting that head back on, find an HO head from a Cherokee. Or pay to have the stock head worked up a bit.
