needed: taper reamer for OTK

  • both the swaybar brackets AND the trackbar bracket interfered with the relocated tie-rod. i had to grind the swaybar brackets and trackbar bracket from the axle. we used this kit to relocate the trackbar: http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/m…M999&Category_Code=BP-B_S.

we started running out of time, so i didn't weld on new swaybar brackets. i'll probably do that next week. i bought both of these sets:
    http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/m…M-UV&Category_Code=BP-B_S
    and http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merc…e=SWYBR&Category_Code=DPL
i haven't yet decided which to use.

I had to grind a bit off of the drivers side bracket to fit the Currie tie rod because of the extra thickness. It wasn't enough to affect the strength though.
The track bar bracket wasn't an issue for me.

Ditto, a little sway bar grinding and no interference with the track-bar with the currie steering

i should qualify this for the benefit of someone who may be watching this thread with the thoughts of doing this flip. i want to make sure no one is getting bad information from me here. all of the grinding and welding that i described pertains to my specific project.

a few years ago, i grenaded the spider gears in my HP30. i found a set of axles that was already upgraded with 4.56 gears and lockers. YAY! along with the internal mods, the PO had changed things with the above-mentioned mounts. his mods worked out ok for me until now, but they were VERY in the way of the tie-rod flip.

so someone with a stock setup may or may not have to do a bunch of grinding and welding. some of the guys here are saying they didn't, but if you click the links i supplied above, you'll see that the manufacturers are suggesting that at least some of this grinding and welding IS required. so i can't say for sure.
