Is it your blackberry that you pay for or is it their blackberry you use? If they own it, then I would say losing your job for compromising network security is worse than not being able to run some apps so don't mess with it.
yeah, I'd err on the side of caution for this one... if it's their phone, I wouldn't mess with it. But if it's your personal phone that the IT guys configured to work with their system, I'd check out http://www.crackberry.com That's pretty much "the" blackberry user site.
Your best bet is the crackberry site, I'm sure there is some sort of "root" or "jailbreak" program available. I just fine have any experience with blackberrys.
