Anticipating storm, DNREC expedites process for repair of docks and piers

DOVER (Aug. 25, 2011) – DNREC’s Wetlands and Subaqueous Lands Section will expedite the authorization process for the repair or replacement of docks, piers or other existing structures, in tidal or non-tidal waters, that may be damaged as a result of Hurricane Irene reaching Delaware this weekend.

If the repair or replacement of damaged structures is proposed with no change to the design or footprint of what existed prior to the storm, repairs can be made as long as prior notification is provided to DNREC. Notifications should be made to DNREC’s Wetlands and Subaqueous Lands Section by calling Gayle Calder at 302-739-9943, or by email: Gayle.Calder@state.de.us.

Please be prepared to provide the address of the property where the repair will be made, as well as the property owner's name, and an approximate timeframe when repairs will occur. The expedited repair program opportunity will expire November 30, 2011.
